BLOCK PARTY

Has anyone else watched a movie and then felt mostly ambivalent about it at the time...but then it keeps coming to mind for weeks afterward?  For instance, you see a movie that continues to generate new opinions and questions long after you've seen it, to the point where you want to see it again just to reconcile things?  It's akin to having a song stuck in your head, but with visuals attached.

A Scanner Darkly has been that way for me.  The plot is, at times, incomprehensible . . . but for whatever reason I feel like my thoughts are temporarily shackled to it.

I felt that way about David Lynch's "Lost Highway" when I first saw it.  I also felt a little nagged by "Vanilla Sky".

I suppose "The Sixth Sense" was sort of like that for me.  I figured it out about an hour and 15 minutes or so into the movie.  But then, after it was over, I kept wondering what other clues might have led me to figuring it out.  So I had to watch it again and saw several other things I had missed.

I actually really loved it, but I think Children of Men might be a movie like this for me.

The New World was like that for me the first time I saw it. I've seen it three times now, though, and absolutely love it.

Dogville was like that for me for a while. I'm not sure if there's any movie I hate more than that one.

Dogville nagged me and I didn't agree with what (I thought) it was saying but I didn't hate it.

Sixth Sense would have nagged me if I hadn't immediately watched it again after watching it for the first time Smiley

I immediately fell in love with "The New World".

I liked "Dogville", and thought it was very well done, but I didn't feel driven to see it again.  It doesn't offer much in the way of interesting visuals which is necessary to keep my attention on repeat viewings.
