I hope none of these are repeats; I tried to avoid them if I could remember. but if you know 'em, you know 'em and if you don't, you don't. (so profound.)
1. I remember holding on to you / all them long lonely nights I put you through
2. it's 6 o'clock / the birds are singin' / I'm wide awake whilst you're still fast asleep
3. one of the dead boys, he looked like Opie (Patty Griffin - Cain, JoshP)
4. what am I gonna do with you / didn't you think this whole thing through
5. the window looked out onto a pattern never-ending
6. when Boney he commanded his army to stand / he leveled his cannon all over the land
7. my lady-love, she stands a-waitin' far [title]
8. yesterday I got lost in the circus
9. never know how much I love you ("Fever," Over the Rhine, AldaForPresident)
10. [title] baby can't you read the sign / I need you to come here and ease my mind
11. he said oh my love, oh [title], you with the dark eyes and palest of skin
12. the broken glass and the rusty nails where the violets grow
13. come on baby, won't you take a look around / the moon up high, the lamp down low
14. saw a girl on the street from my home / like a fire on the hillside she shone
14. each morning a missionary advertises neon sign
15. you know I never seem to get it right, [title]
16. same old question without words / so familiar seldom heard ("Moth", Over the Rhine, murlough)
17. fed up of girls in pretty dresses with boys want to teach them a lesson (Camera Obscura - Dory Previn, JoshP)
18. [title] doot-n-doo-doo [title]
19. she's a crooked sheriff in a real straight town
20. Je m'baladais sur l'avenue le cœur ouvert à l'inconnu
21. there is a town in north Ontario

23. the two of us together, we'll go down forever ("Blown Away", The Violet Burning, plvarona)
24. this is my 45th depressing tune ("Anything", Sixpence None The Richer, plvarona)
25. battered and torn, still I can see the light (Ben Harper - I Shall Not Walk Alone, Josh P)

I was at a resteraunt. I ordered a chicken sandwich, but I don't think the waitress understood me. Cuz she said "how would you like your eggs?". So I tried to answer her anyhow, I said incubated, and then raised, and then beheaded, and then plucked, and then cut up, and then put on a grill, and then put on to a bun. Damn, it's gonna take a while! I don't have time - scrambled! -- Mitch Hedberg

18 isn't Jesus Is Just Alright With Me , although that song might go that way. but the next line of this one is "and I say it's all right". hmmm...

clue-time. have fun.
1. Gillian Welch penned a lyric that goes "you be [this singer] and I'll be Gram".
2. this band's name can be found in certain types of juice.
4. I listen to this Cincinnati-based singer/songwriter often.
5. nobody will ever guess this so I will just say it's A Timeless Place covered by the Swingle Singers rather than try to come up with a convoluted clue.
6. I don't know if this is a traditional song or an original one by this Irish songstress.
7. this song's title contains the name of the state I was born in. but I don't imagine anyone knows Across The Wide Missouri or the Kingston Trio so there you go.
8. I got this song from the pub. *looks at JoshP*
10. employment opportunity notification. from Emmylou's longtime guitarist.
11. there is a book with this title. it rhymes with the last part of the next line in the song, "Santa Maria".
12. "a girl's best friend" and the standard. by the one whose name sounds like something that lingers for no one.
13. her first name, with title, sounds like miscellany.
14. she likes to pen songs that refer to morphine, moonshine, and murder.
14. I don't know why I still have this Bingo Bango Bongo song by the Andrews Sisters. it was part of a collection of mp3s I snagged. has anybody even heard of it or them?
15. this is the title track of an album that came out last year from an artist who remains unguessed in this meme.
18. [title] doot-n-doo-doo [title] and I say it's all right little darlin' it's been a long cold lonely winter (especially since nobody seems to know this song)
19. this one's an orphan and a brawler
20. Elysian Fields, in French
21. without help. seems like quite a few folks like to cover this song by someone with a bendy, youthful name. (what a horrible clue.)
22. the group Linda Rondstadt sang for way back when. they apparently had difficulty with spelling pluralizations.
