Let me preempt Vlad! by saying that, yes, we all watch too much TV and are well aware of that fact. Having said that, what shows do the rest of you try to watch each week? For me: Sunday: Carolina Panthers football and Sunday Night Football in the fall, Desperate Housewives Monday: How I Met Your Mother, 24, Monday Night Football (whichever ones are on) Tuesday: American Idol after it gets down to 24 contestants, and The Office from time to time Wednesday: Lost Thursday: Grey's Anatomy Friday: Nothing Saturday: Nothing A good college basketball or NHL game will catch my attention, too.

Lordy.. I don't know if I can even remember them all. Currently airing (I think): House Lost Heroes Studio 60 30 Rock The Black Donnelys The Office American Idol (yeah, yeah, I know..) NCIS Jericho Monk Psych Stargate SG-1 Stargate Atlantis Dresden Files Numb3rs Dexter (break) Torchwood (break) Doctor Who (break) I watched a few episodes of Knights of Prosperity, but stopped. It had potential but like I thought after I saw the pilot, it got old fast. I came in on BSG mid-season but ended up never watching the episodes I downloaded so I stopped downloading it. I probably would have liked it more if I saw it from the very beginning. I've wanted to check out Prison Break and 24 but it's too late for me to do so. If I ever do, it'll be from a DVD set or something. I can't just jump in X seasons in. I watch Cold Case and Law and Order SVU from time to time.. but not even close to every episode. So yeah.. I'm a TV junkie. And don't ask me what day they air.. I rarely watch any of them live. Torrents for the win.

my tv situation is weird so I rely on torrents.
what I'm keeping up with: Heroes Lost
what I watch but have fallen behind on: 24 Veronica Mars Men In Trees
what is currently airing but I started watching late and haven't caught up with all the way: Battlestar Galactica Monk
other: The Closer (I've watched a few scattered eps and would like to watch more.) Arrested Development (I have the dvds but haven't finished them yet.)
shows that might be interesting but too gross: any CSI sort of show where might be roaches eating on murdered people stuffed in water heaters.
shows that I used to keep up with but now I don't (I might watch old eps, though): Gilmore Girls Alias Smallville
updated: what I am keeping up with/will keep up with when the season begins again: Lost Battlestar Galactica The Closer
what I watch but have fallen behind on: House Monk
what is currently airing but I started watching late and haven't caught up with all the way: Bones Medium
new to me old/canceled shows that I discovered recently and distracted me from keeping up with current stuff: Joan of Arcadia Wonderfalls
shows that I used to keep up with but stopped watching at some point (I might watch old eps, though): Gilmore Girls Alias Smallville 24 Heroes

College basketball Scrubs That 70s Show House Law and Order SVU Crossing Jordan
Those are the ones I tune into when I'm flipping channels (or my roommate is). Most of those are reruns, though. We try to see the new eps of SVU and Crossing Jordan, but don't always make it. Apparently Scrubs has been hilarious this season and I've missed every new episode. Oh well, it'll be on Comedy Central soon enough...
My dad and I watch TV shows on DVD when I'm home (Fawlty Towers, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Stargate) but that's unusual so I don't count that. I watch more movies than TV in a normal month.

Wanderer and murlough are probably mildly disappointed in you, though Well, if it appeases them any, I watch it with a number of friends who have been AI addicts for years now, and most of the fun comes from the spirited conversation rather than from the show itself. I would probably not watch it by myself, although I do think it's a pretty fun program, albeit time-consuming!

Sunday: I don't watch anything regularly. Monday: "24". Missed last night, so mom taped it. I tried watching "The Black Donnelys" last night, but I fell asleep. I don't blame the show - I was tired. I can't even speak to the quality of the program. Tuesday: I try to watch "House" - doesn't always work out. "American Idol", usually while busy doing other things. Often fall asleep 3/4 of the way through "Law & Order: SVU" Wednesday: "Lost", religiously. "American Idol" - same. Thursday: "My Name is Earl", "The Office", "Grey's Anatomy" Friday: "Numbers" Saturday: "Saturday Night Live", depending mostly on host or musical guest.
Intermittently: "Dateline" - gotta love "To Catch a Predator". "48 Hours", "60 Minutes", "Primetime", etc. - ok, I just like news magazines. "Law and Order: CI" "CSI" - you pick the location. "Oprah" "The Simpsons"
I don't have cable, so my mom tapes "Monk". I watch them in bulk.
I'm currently getting through "The Wire" and "Avatar: The Last Airbender" on DVD. After that, I'll check out "Battlestar Galactica".

Wanderer and murlough are probably mildly disappointed in you, though I'm more disappointed in people that watch Desperate Housewives. AI is one of those things where I know a lot of the appeal is how bad some of these singers are. That sort of thing makes me cringe. I won't go to karaoke bars for the same reason. But if you can handle it, I'm sure it's a fun show. Here's what I watch: Sunday: Brothers & Sisters, Battlestar Galactica (I download this and watch it later in the week) Monday: Everybody Hates Chris, Heroes, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (just the monologue and Headlines) Tuesday: Boston Legal Wednesday: Lost Thursday: 30 Rock (lately I've been doing other things on Thursdays and watching it online later) Friday: 1 Vs. 100 (if I'm home and bored; I don't make it a priority) Saturday: Saturday Night Live Sporadically on Weekdays: Everybody Loves Raymond Online Only: Day Break Currently on Hiatus/Between Seasons: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, The Nine, Beauty and the Geek Man, that's more TV shows that I realized! But it helps that many of them are accessible through "alternative" means - I used to hardly watch any TV at all because I didn't want it to rule my schedule. These days I'd say the only shows that I absolutely must be home for (or at a friend's house for) to watch when they air are Heroes and Lost. Battlestar Galactica would be one of those, if I actually had cable. Out of the remaining shows, I do try to make sure I catch every episode, except for sitcoms or game shows, where it doesn't really matter. I'll use the VCR or watch them online if their networks' websites offer them. Some other favorites of mine that have gone off the air are Alias, Commander-in-Chief, The Practice, and Star Trek: Enterprise (all of these declined considerably before their eventual cancellation). I enjoyed the other Star Trek series back when they were on. Before that I was a fan of several game shows ( Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, and various Nickeloden shows like Double Dare, plus Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and Weakest Link in more recent years, though both of those got old rather quickly), and at one point during my teenage years, I religiously watched The New Mickey Mouse Club. As a kid I loved The Cosby Show, Family Ties, and several shows of that nature. We also watched family-oriented Western shows like Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and The Young Riders, plus Family Channel reruns of The Waltons, which my mom was a big fan of and which grew on me over time. For a while circa the turn of the century, I was really into sitcoms such as Dharma & Greg and Spin City, but I lost track of those before they went off the air. Shows I wish I had gotten into while they were still on TV include Seinfeld, Babylon 5 (I watched Season 1 but gave up on it when college started), and Quantum Leap. Everybody Loves Raymond is sort of on that list, but I've seen so many episodes in syndication that I get the gist of the show (and I think it's pretty hilarious, but it can get old if you watch too much of it), so I have no regrets about not catching it the first time around. Hm - interesting. The ads make this seem similarly libidinous. Yeah. Along with Lost, I'm really disappointed in how ABC advertises that show. Every week it seems to be all about Calista Flockhart and Rob Lowe and whether they'll sleep together, and dude, they already did, so shut up about it already! Rob Lowe isn't even a regular cast member and Calista Flockhart's character is the least interesting of the titular siblings. I started watching because I wanted to see what Ron Rifkin was up to after Alias (it feels like Alias with more drama and no spies sometimes, since Balthazar Getty and Patricia Wettig are regular cast members and Ken Olin is producing and a lot of the musical cues are similar to the ones in Alias). I continued watching because I think the conflicts and struggles between these siblings and their mother as they struggle to deal with the death of a family patriarch and move past it are extremely well-written and true to life, and I can look past the "who's getting laid now?" shenanigans and the soap-opera trimmings because it's a rare example of a family that fights and bickers and bails each other out of sticky situations, but isn't into devious plots and constant backstabbing like a soap opera family would be, and also isn't all superficial hugs and warm chocolate chip cookies like a 50's sitcom. It's a tough balance; they do it well. They've been exploring some of the issues that the older, married siblings have been having and those subplots have really struck me as well-played ones - I care much more for those relationships than the relationship you'll see touted on this week's TV Guide. (I actually thought I'd get told I had a plank in my eye for watching Boston Legal, which is probably just as sleazy as DH, just set in a law firm. What can I say, I'm not a fan of William Shatner and James Spader hitting on every woman in sight, but I'm definitely a fan of the quirky cases that they try and the relational dynamics between the people on the show who aren't just trying to get laid, which fortunately is a good chunk of the show, just not one that titillates as much when advertising new episodes.)

I thought it was merely OK when it was on TV, but they've really made it interesting as the story has unfolded. (The "vacation" subplot in the third-to-last episode was definitely a humorous highlight. Just screw it all, let's go on the same trip and blow tons of cash everyday!)

Yeah, I've actually found the show is less annoying with the sound off. But I can't see why anyone would watch more than one full episode. It's almost totally random.

But I can't see why anyone would watch more than one full episode. It's almost totally random. Well, it's a game show that doesn't show you how little you know. Most game shows are based on knowledge of trivia and/or academic subjects, or perhaps some skill with math or wordsmithing or whatever. Deal or No Deal is more of a Vegas-type thing - you can spend some time figuring out the odds and analyzing whether it's better to keep going or stop, but you don't have to depend on your ability to recall a bunch of random facts that you may or may not have learned over the course of your life. It's generally pretty obvious how to get out of the game with a reasonable amount of money (not anything worth hooting and hollering about in comparison to the $1 mil prize, but certainly more than what I'd bring home in a few months' worth of paychecks), unless your luck is just absolutely terrible and you eliminate everything in the top half right away. Anyone can play it more or less by total chance, and not feel stupid. Which is exactly why it doesn't really interest me. Because I like making other people feel stupidtesting myself on random trivia and solving puzzles. NP: "The Promise", Anberlin

well, my wife is the main Deal or No Deal addict in our family, but since I usually prefer to be around her, I usually see at least some of it. But I'd be lying if I said or even implied that I don't like it myself too. It's extremely addictive.
Actually, we are doing a variation of it in my youth group tomorrow night too even.

I'm not sure that either show promotes extramarital affair as good practice. People in either show have them, they get caught, they cause themselves and others plenty of stress - the difference between that and what many Christians want to see, though, is that their stress is played for laughs.
Besides that, the quality of the writing on a show is not measured by watchdog morality points.

What I usually watch: Football - primarily NFL, and some college games - mostly involving my alma maters Basketball - right now mostly college, although I'll get more interested in the NBA once we get closer to the playoffs SportsCenter Auto Racing (during the summer - so I find some amusement in watching people drive fast.) Volleyball (also during the summer.)
Will watch occasionally: American Idol (I can only take it in small doses, however.) MythBusters (If only because the guys are so crazy.)

Thus far anyone on the show (at least that I remember) who has had an extramarital affair, or who has at least tried to, has gotten themselves in a heap of trouble. (Sometimes it's played for laughs, but more of the "Wow, this person is really an idiot" variety.) There's permiscuous sex between some of the non-married characters, which irks me, but it's not unexpected on most prime time TV shows, so whatever.

Another show I forgot. I don't follow it religiously, but I do watch a lot of MythBusters. The pirate episode was great :D

I was at a resteraunt. I ordered a chicken sandwich, but I don't think the waitress understood me. Cuz she said "how would you like your eggs?". So I tried to answer her anyhow, I said incubated, and then raised, and then beheaded, and then plucked, and then cut up, and then put on a grill, and then put on to a bun. Damn, it's gonna take a while! I don't have time - scrambled! -- Mitch Hedberg

Yeah, I watch way too much TV:
Sunday: Amazing Race, Without a Trace Tuesday: Gilmore Girls (though I'm about to give up on it), Veronica Mars Wednesday: Friday Night Lights (the BEST show no one is watching. Even if you're not a huge football fan, I encourage you to check it out), Lost, Medium (when I can, anyway) Thursday: The Office, CSI (again ... losing interest), Grey's Anatomy, Men in Trees (though this is more my wife's show ... I just stick around and read) Saturdays in the fall: Georgia football
Shows I kind of see due to my wife's fandom: American Idol, Grease, Dancing shows (they all blur together)

Sunday: Amazing Race, Without a Trace I've seen each Amazing Race, and Without a Trace. But I only watched Will & Grace one time, one day. Wish I hadn't, 'cause TiVo now thinks I'm gay.
