I was at a resteraunt. I ordered a chicken sandwich, but I don't think the waitress understood me. Cuz she said "how would you like your eggs?". So I tried to answer her anyhow, I said incubated, and then raised, and then beheaded, and then plucked, and then cut up, and then put on a grill, and then put on to a bun. Round is long over.

Plvarona and Murlough asked me to post their guesses for them.

Jennifer Lopez gets 3 stars.  This is easily the most tolerable album she's put out, although that's really not saying much.  I'll admit I'm somewhat of a fan of Latin pop, and there are a few songs on the album that I truly enjoy.  However, most of the album doesn't really stand out.  Fortunately, there's nothing here nearly as annoying as "Play", "Get Right" or "Jenny From The Block", so I can't be too harsh either.  So overall, it's a so-so album, which means it's a huge step forward for J-Lo.

"Michael Giacchino is a great composer. At least, from what little I know about scoring music for TV episodes, I can tell that he's doing a pretty darn good job. He did the incidental music for Alias and some movies like The Incredibles before Lost, but here he gets to take it to a new level, occasionally uses pieces of the plane wreckage for percussion (though mostly on Season One's Soundtrack), and bringing back familiar musical themes for particular characters - the melancholy, let-down-by-faith Locke theme, the wandering Kate theme, the plucky troublemaking Hurley theme, etc. The best moments on this CD bring back climactic, emotional, or humorous scenes from the show's second season - particularly impressive are some of the more pulse-pounding action scenes. That's where this soundtrack succeeds. Where it fails is in skipping over moments from some key episodes in favor of bringing us short, minute-or-less pieces that don't really register in terms of how they tie to the scenes that they were in, or connect well to the longer pieces surrounding them. Like the Season One soundtrack, it's a bit of aural whiplash, with several sections where you'll need to turn your volume up to get the quietest bit of tension, only to have to turn it down again when you get blasted. That's probably just a technical limitation with putting classical/orchestral music on a CD, but it bugs me. Overall, good work by the composer, not-so-good work in compiling the soundtrack album. I give it a B-, which means 4 stars."

As for my album, I'm suprised everyone thinks I'd rate it so high. 4 stars? Really? The only Idol related album that I'd ever have given 4 stars to was Daughtry's, and even that was just barely (nowadays I'd probably just go with 3, it's enjoyable still, but I'm noticing a lot more flaws with time). There's actually very little about this album that stands out to me or even interests me. I can't remember what most of it sounds like after ten or so listens, so, that would be bad. It's not terribly creative, and while kind of fun, it's almost entirely forgettable. The first four songs are alright, though, but most of the album sounds like a poor man's mix of U2 and MuteMath, without the excellence in music or lyrics.

I will end up giving this a D+, 2 stars.

Next round, Bright Eyes - Cassadega

Jarvis gets 4 stars and a B+. I'll write up some thoughts and start a thread about the album later.

Oh yeah.  In my haste to head out of town for the weekend, I forgot to post my pick for the next round.  It will be Everyday Sunday's Wake Up!  Wake Up!  Here are entire song samples: http://www.inpop.com/artists/everyday_sunday.html

I hate to, but I agree with Bren on Half Past Forever.  One to two-word songs, none of which I can bring back to my mind 10 seconds after listening to the album.  Chris has a nice voice, though.  2 stars.

Next up:  Cities by Anberlin.

I'm not really a big fan of Chris Daughtry's vocal style, but it's not really that bad on this album. Still not good enough to give Daughtry more than 3 stars, however.

Next week is Lovedrug's Everything Starts Where It Ends.
