I knew it! FHT sounded way too much like Green Day to be anyone else other than the band under a different moniker.

Paper Route doesn’t seem like a name that would evoke thoughts of a synth-pop/electronica band with a penchant for dramatic and beautiful songs. Interesting that you would say that and then mention The Postal Service in the same paragraph, because one name reminds me of the other. What's next, a synthpop band called FedExUPS?

I'm thinking a stripped down acoustic artist called, "Bloggers".

Dennis Wilson-- Pacific Ocean Blue [Legacy Edition]The original album came out in 1977, but this re-issue (with an extra disc containing the not-quite-finished album Bambu) is currently the top rated album of the year according to MetaCritic.

Breakestra- The Live Mix Part 2 http://unfunrecords.com/wordpress/?p=126Really great funk retrospective through the lens of 1990s breakbeat and hip-hop sensibilities. Perfect if you need a firm dose of optimism in your day.

The Denouement - Low Tide. http://unfunrecords.com/wordpress/?p=128One of my favorite records of last year. Tiny (in the fanbase sense), self-produced band, but you wouldn't believe it from the maturity of the material.

And it should be, although I wouldn't feel comfortable grading reissues right alongside 2008 albums. Fantastic album, Josh!

Your Homogenic review is pretty spot on. I agree with you that Vespertine is her best, too.

It's always come down between Homogenic and Vespertine for me. The "All Is Full of Love" video has to be among her best ever, and that's saying something when it comes to Bjork videos. I'm generally with the review up until that song is mentioned. I think it's one of those moves some artists put at the end of an album to make a statement on "where from here". I personally think it's every bit as good as the beginning, but in a very different way to be sure.

I'll have to check out the video (really, I'll have to check out all of her videos) at some point. Really, I still enjoy the song as it is on the album, but give me the choice between that and the version with a beat, and I'll take the version with a beat. (This is almost always true when you give me such a choice regarding Bjork, except for the remix of "I See Who You Are", since it leaves out the pipa.)

http://www.soul-audio.com/album-reviews/08-23-2008/ten-shekel-shirt/This prompted an angry facebook message from Lamont (allegedly), stating how I didn't get the depth of the album. Which then prompted me listening to the album again and finding that my complaints are totally accurate and any misinterpretation on my part is really the fault of vague songwriting. So, read the review Lamont Hiebert doesn't want you to read!

After much consternation regarding Epinions' new HTML editor (which was apparently tested only by a team of armadillos before it was rolled out), I finally managed to post my Fleet Foxes review. http://www.epinions.com/content_443732627076

4 Stars? wow, that's generous, IMO. Well written, I was just surprised at the rating

i think 4 is very fair. i like the album more than you guys have sounded like you do. it didn't blow me away like Cities did, which was my first time to really fall in love with Anberlin, but i like it. it is in my top 10 of the year, but in the lower part of it. anyway, i thought the review was well-written and fair and 4 was accurate.

I'd still consider it an above-average piece of work. 3 stars is for average stuff (C-grade), 4 for above average (B-grade), and 5 for excellent (A-grade). My letter grade for this one was a B-. If Epinions allowed half stars I'd have gone with 3 1/2.

Yeah. Your letter grades mean different things than mine, but I think our actual levels of excitement about this album are about the same.

Personally, I listen to this album more for the music rather than the lyrics. The lyrics ARE pretty weird and honestly don't make much sense, but the musicianship in that band is hard to ignore.
