I actually went on Saturday Night, a choice which isn't up there. So I just put last Sunday, since its still the same weekend, although I don't like that this poll makes me lie about when I attended church

this poll can't win! I changed it to "this past week" and "the week before that". and I plan to change the poll soon, as soon as I can think of something to change it to.

I think I alternate between A and C. so I picked B. referring back to the what's cutest poll, this is what I mean about not finding some kittens to be cute. I love cats but there is just too much weirdness going on with this face. what say you kitten-fans?

Much as I enjoyed the phrase "too much weirdness going on with this face", I have to say that I can see the cuteness of that kitten. I'm not saying that every kitten is cuter than every puppy all of the time, because that is clearly not the case, but if you were to rank each kitten in the world by cuteness (relative to other kittens) and then do the same for puppies, kitten #1 would be cuter than puppy #1, even if puppy #1 is cuter than kitten #100.
And everyone knows that the cutest puppy in the world is woofie.

Curve is a very ambiguous term. a line can curve slightly, or can curve so parabolically that it ends up almost where it started.
I like this question, but none of the choices I think completely match, so I'll have to consider it more.

my idea about the curve was that it's wavier than a straight line but not continuously wavy like the very wavy line. you can interpret the steepness as you like. I thought about putting in an option for slightly wavy line but that option seemed too easy. you can also write in your choice if none of the options fit and if you think of a specific sort of line/shape/thing that does. =)

When I'm at work (like now) and working on something frustrating (like now) then I'm tempted to say dot, but I think the most accurate answer for me might be a wave like you would see on a heart monitor...a mostly straight line, but with blips that sawtooth up and then back down.
Of course, it also depends on how you look at things. Is going from high school to college a straight line (because you're moving on to the next step in your life), or is it a deviation in course (because it's a change from the familiar to the unfamiliar)? How about college graduation? The blips I was thinking of were more unexpected events (like you smack your roommate's cat with a wiimote and have to pay the five hundred dollar vet bill) than more major life events like this.
But then, I imagine this description would characterize most people's lives.

for the poll I didn't specify because I wanted to leave it open for individual interpretation, but my idea was that usual sorts of expected/planned changes would pretty much be a straight line. I didn't really have unexpected events in mind unless they changed the direction of your life. (you smacked someone's cat and...had to flee, for instance.)

hm. so I wasn't silly before? the other night I was thinking about the Robert Frost poem, Mending Wall. I can understand the narrator's point of view--he is all pine and I am apple orchard, and here there are no cows--but I would probably stick doggedly to "good fences make good neighbors" myself.

born in a small town in northeast Missouri. lived in Malaysia for 6 months when I was a baby. moved back to Missouri (same town as before). lived in two different houses in that town. moved across the River to Illinois. lived in three different houses in the same town. moved back to Missouri. lived in four or five (some temporarily) different houses there, not in the same town. moved to Tennessee. lived in two different houses there, not in the same town. moved to North Carolina for 10 months. lived in two different houses. moved to Indiana for 3 months. moved to California. every week I shuffle back and forth between two different houses. I think I've been at the phorum (including previous incarnations of it) longer than I've been in any one house state. I've seen it all boys, I've been all over Been everywhere in the whole wide world I rode the high line with old blind Darby I danced real slow with Ida Jane I was full of wonder when I left Murfreesboro Now I am full of hollow on Maxwell Street And I hope my pony, I hope my pony I hope my pony knows the way back home - Tom Waits

Maybe some people like it, but I think it would suck to move around a lot. I lived in the same city until I was eighteen. Were it an earlier age I would be tempted to go out and see the world, but since I regularly talk with people from five continents (don't know anyone online from Africa or Antarctica, sadly) over the intertubes, I'm content to sit right here.
