Dan In Real Life. Pretty enjoyable.
Hausu. Quite possibly the best movie ever made. So bad it's amazing.

I don't think it got much press.  I hadn't even seen anything about it until today.

It's a Miyazaki movie, so I just figured that I likely wouldn't be the first to write that I had seen it.

500 Days of Summer - Saw this on a whim, and it was a lot better than I thought it would be. I think the trailer was quite deceiving; I don't think it was desperately trying to be culturally relevant. I could've done without Tom's buddies who were primarily used as punchlines (even though we gained some insight into their view of love in the interview segment). I was most intrigued by the idea that a relationship shouldn't automatically be devalued by its transience. Summer knew that. The ending bugged me quite a bit upon first glance, but thinking about it with that idea in mind (which I think Tom picked up on), I think Tom may have different expectations. Favorite sequences were the Hall & Oates segment, the split-screen between expectations and reality, and the final conversation between Tom and Summer.

Found this on YouTube. It's pretty neat.

Bloop, I saw Ponyo, too. Man. That guy just amazes. I'd call it a B-level Miyazaki film, but that's still a five-star movie by just about anyone else's standards.

Yeah, maybe.  More than even Totoro, it's aimed squarely at the kids, but I enjoyed it immensely anyway.  The scale of what you see underwater was just jaw-dropping.

Summer Hours

Very French, but not bad. I think most of my moviegoing compatriots would disagree, but they suck anyway so forget their opinions. As with most French films, if you expect something of any great significance to happen in the overt action, you are mistaken. The significance comes when observing the undertones and the implications. Not bad.

I LOVE Summer Hours-- one of the most beautiful and profound films of 2009. I reviewed it here:

This movie made me cry. A lot.

I should've seen Summer Hours in the theater while I had the chance. I'll have to wait for DVD.

I watched I Love You, Man - consistently funny, but also quite slight. Paul Rudd needs to be the lead in a great movie. He has the talent.

I Love You, Man

There's funny-awkward, and then there's just plain ol' awkward.  This movie is the latter and I felt like everyone in it was very stiff...the dialogue is stilted.  Disappointing.
