it was okay. I like stop-motion animation, so I enjoyed that aspect of it, but story-wise it seemed a little overlong and draggy. it probably didn't help that I was tired and didn't like the character of Mr. Fox. but there was some humor that I liked a lot.

I watched a couple of episodes once to see what all the hype was about and was bored to tears.  I thought it wasn't good at all.

I like some of the humor, and I like the Doctor (Christopher Eccleston version), but I have very little patience with the aliens and creatures. :\

Fantastic Mr. Fox. 10th viewing. That might say something about what I think of this film.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

I really liked it. Gilliam had made up for Tideland in my eyes, though that will always be a sore spot.

As you probably know, we do have a thread devoted to Moon.

Also, I liked it a lot.

yeah, the first thing I did after finishing the movie was read that thread. I am not sure what exactly my difficulty is. part of it is that I am probably focusing too much on how I would probably react to...certain things...and end up more confused about what is actually going on. but it also seems like what is actually going on is not clear anyway. so I kind of don't care so much about that...but...all the more I don't get it! the dvd has two commentaries, and I plan to listen to them soon.

The Princess and the Frog, first viewing.

Disney tend to be pretty reliable, and TPatF certainly breaks no molds in this regard. I believe I can confidently say that if you like other Disney movies, you will like this one. If you don't like other Disney movies (or find them to be formulaic), you will probably feel the same about this one.

My only real complaint is Charlotte's voice. I have actually been to New Orleans, and I didn't think that anyone actually talks like that. Maybe I'm just wrong and that was her voice actress' natural voice, but it sounds more like a caricature than an actual accent to me.

The animation has a sort of half-CG, half-hand-drawn feeling that's a little disconcerting in places. However, this is balanced by the use of what appears to be CG-enhanced hand-painted backgrounds in several scenes, which really works well and enhances the setting quite a bit.

If you're in the mood for a saccharine-sweet story with some jumpin' jazz music, check this movie out. If not, well, don't.

Remember Me

Was actually getting pretty drawn into this slow (emphasis on slow) drama's portrayal of a screwed up family slowly healing becoming more than self-centered jerks, but the last five minutes blew it for me. Really blew it.

The pilot episode of Burn Notice. I kept thinking, "A private investigator narrating his exploits in a town crawling with bikini-clad women on the beach? I think I've seen this before." Though I took it as a homage to the 80's series I was thinking of, not a ripoff. It's got a sense of snark all its own.

Burn Notice is one of my guilty pleasure TV shows. Good snark, good action and it doesn't take itself too seriously.

And I saw There Will Be Blood last weekend. What took me so long to see this one? Absolutely fantastic movie.

Every time I see an ad for Burn Notice it makes me think of the SNL skit with the game show "What is Burn Notice?", which I thought was funny because despite its ubiquitous ad campaign I really don't know much about it either.

That sketch was an overly long gag based on a bit of truth in television - people have heard that the show is acclaimed and that supposedly a bunch of people like it, but virtually nobody seems to know what it's about. It's a good show (at least, from what I was able to observe in the pilot) that perhaps markets its image more so than its actual premise.

Inception

So good. There were a couple parts that had me grinning like a doofus just because what was happening was so amazing.
