I just watched a few episodes of the Firefly dvds I borrowed from the library. If it weren't for the dialogue, I would have liked this series. The cinematography is good as well as the special effects. However, the dialogue really bothered me from the start. I almost shut it off after 1 episode but I gave it a shot and watched 5 episodes but overall, I'll have to pass on the rest of it and the movie Serenity.

I haven't seen any Firefly episodes, but I've seen Serenity. The dialogue is a bit campy and sarcastic, but I think that's part of the fun of it. There's enough serious sci-fi out there. I know because I've watched most of it.

That's it; you are so getting voted off the island.

I will say that I'd watch Firefly before I watched Battlestar Galactica. Gosh that show makes me want to kill myself

The dialogue was actually my favorite part of the show.

I have to agree with that. While I like the milieu and appreciate it how the series actually gives more than a passing nod to the physics of space and space flight, the series would be nothing without its quirky characters and dialog. I can take or leave the plot, but if Mal stopped tossing out one-liners or if Wash were more serious, it just wouldn't be nearly as good. Keeeeep walkin', preacher man.

Either that or we could just take him up on his offer by showing him more BSG and letting the problem take care of itself.

I'd love to know what GOOD sci-fi is if neither Firefly or BSG measure up...

I know, right? You're entitled to your own opinion, and we're entitled to tell you that your opinion is wrong.
To be honest, I haven't seen BSG at all so I don't care if you dis it. But saying you don't like the dialog in Firefly is like saying you don't care for the woman's smile in the Mona Lisa. Geez.

Anything would be awesome, but I hope a sequel-to-DVD would continue off the TV series rather than the film. I liked Serenity a whole lot, but I'd prefer vastly to see those characters still alive that they killed off in the film.
