Seriously.
I can confirm this since I read an email from a friend two weeks ago that said SNTR would be playing at Cornerstone 2008. I am..can you say...FREAKING EXCITED.

I am somewhat more meagerly excited, but excited anyway.

Dude, that is freaky. I was wondering just today if they would ever consider reuniting (probably because Leigh Nash was on my mind since I've been listening to Fauxliage).
So what's your source on this?

UH-oh. They're talking about this at CMC? It's only a matter of time before the nasty rumors start flying.

You'd be surprised. While CMC will never be the hotbed of activity and smart posts it once was, it isn't the inane stupidity that ensued when Sean VonTagen went all dictator on the site. It's fairly dead but there is an occasional post worth reading. And I know Josh would have a much more reliable source. I just was the first to post where I got it from. Josh writes for CT..he knows people..

I'm going to guess that the stupidity reached a critical mass and a lot of folks bailed, and then after that it was hard for the mob mentality to maintain its momentum. Pretty much what I predicted what would happen.

I started the rebellion once bdg told me what was happening with his job over there. I really took site management to task and threw several uppercuts. Most people didn't have the balls to say anything so something had to be done. I got banned a few times (made multiple accounts) but finally got my original account unbanned once the Salem people took over.. Anyways..back to Sixpence..

Leigh's myspace blog has some more details. "We realized we were on the same page and decided to make Sixpence None the Richer records for the next 2,000 to 3,000 years!!!! Seriously- as long as we can: ) We are in the middle of making an EP right now that will be available soon! We also have a tour planned beginning in April. Yay!!! These things started happening almost immediately after we decided to start up the engines again. Amazing! I am so thankful and excited for the future. There is a Sixpence myspace page in the works and many details to come about the tour, EP etc very soon..."

I hope Matt still finds time to record with Sam and the other guys to give us an Astronaut Pushers album.

Did they ever put one out in the first place? On a Sixpence-related topic, a friend of mine who lives in North Carolina says that some friend of his knows Dale Baker, and invited him to play drums at his church or something. Not that this is anything terribly exciting, but it's kind of fun to have established three degrees of separation from the band.

According to Leigh's MySpace account, this reunion is not a one-off thing, but a permanent, long-term one. They're supposedly putting together an EP for release in a couple of months, and are eying a possible LP for later in the year.

I guess it makes me question what made them break up in the first place. The gap between Divine Discontent and this album will have only been about a year longer than the gap between their self-titled (1997) and Divine Discontent (2002). They could have just called it an extended hiatus. NP: "I See Who You Are", Bjork

Well, they may have genuinely thought they were breaking up for good, seeing no possibility of a reunion at the time.

Right. I'm just curious as to whether they split due to artistic divergence between Matt and Leigh (which is apparently no longer an issue), or personal things that one or both of them was in the midst of at the time, or just the financial infeasability of continuing as a band. In an open letter to CCM at the time they announced their retirement, they did sign off with "goodbye for now."

Kate York reported on her MySpace blog that she'll be on board on vocals and rhythm guitars.
...and I have no idea what to think of that. To be honest, as much as I love my SNTR CD's, I'm a bit scared that they might go in a completely different direction again and not be able to hold my interest. Of course, I'll buy their next one anyway, but it better be better than Leigh's last album and Kate's last album.
