I think I've done this game on the boards before, but probably under a different name, or before we had the Games sub-phorum. Anyway, the objective is to figure out what song titles I'm alluding to by way of synonyms and/or puns, and then name the artist who all of those song titles belong to. (Usually, the second part is much easier than getting all of the first part figured out.)
Set #1: Thrice (Solved)
Already solved: Striped origami felines. (Paper Tigers) Sailor's delight and/or warning. (Red Sky) Conduct an emotional appraisal of yourself while erect. (Stand and Feel Your Worth) Quickly grasp optimism. (Hold Fast Hope) Inconspicuous cutting tool. (A Subtle Dagger) Our world doesn't sing through its nose. (The Earth Isn't Humming) Military advice to a homosexual. (Don't Tell and We Won't Ask) Descendant of minute solid particles. (Child of Dust) Peaks getting evicted. (Moving Mountains) Small poultry's prophecy. (The Sky Is Falling) Most direct route despite land-based obstacles. (As the Crow Flies) Misplaced landmass. (Lost Continent) The person you shouldn't shoot when disappointed. (The Messenger) Rear involuntary conscription. (Backdraft) Bandmate to Robert Nesta. (The Whaler) Creative being whose vehicle runs red lights. (The Artist in the Ambulance) Dragon. (Firebreather) An event measuring on the Richter Scale shall occur. (The Earth Will Shake) Transparent JPEG. (Image of the Invisible) Half of Marshal Mathers' movie (assuming correct grammar). (For Miles) On the way from the last chapter to our failed polygraph. (Between the End and Where We Lie) Labyrinth architect. (Daedalus) Double-stacked checkers on a lion's neck (Kings Upon the Main) Empty space before Simon, Paula, and Randy (Where Idols Once Stood) Alfred Hitchcock profile (Silhouette) Everything that the Democrats typically stand for. (All that's Left)
Set #2: Bjork (Solved)
Already solved: Jefferson's original vehicle. (Aeroplane) Recently downgraded dwarf. (Pluto) Imitate an opossum. (Play Dead) Pre-nuptial maiden. (Bachelorette) Roaming mental adultery. (Wanderlust) Massive temporal eroticism. (Big Time Sensuality) Oral baby bed. (Mouth's Cradle) Prepubescent. (Immature) Pupal casing. (Cocoon) Decadal midpoint. (5 Years) Feasible uncertain response. (Possibly Maybe) Common response to knocking. (Who Is It?) State preceding proven culpability. (Innocence) Location to go seek. (Hidden Place) Affection pervades. (All Is Full of Love) Situation caused by a loose thread. (Unravel) Control Z. (Undo) Heathen verse. (Pagan Poetry) The disposition of homo sapiens. (Human Behaviour) Delighted, Tarantino-style. (Violently Happy) One spinal component at a time. (Vertebrae by Vertebrae) Totally similar to a noble gas. (All Neon Like) Cardiovascular pwnage. (Triumph of a Heart) What happens between snoozes. (Alarm Call) Xanthic Beatle dwelling. (Submarine) Notable individual made of crystalline precipitation. (Frosti) You tower over it. (It's Not Up to You) 4-dimensional narrative song. (Hyper-Ballad)

I'll add a slightly easier one for the CCM fans.
Group #3: Kutless
Grant you passage. At unspecified astronomical coordinates. Prevent me from scoring. Women's TV network pledge. Regis Philbin. Pillow stuffing. Acceleration affects us at 9.8 meters per second squared. The Oxford's unabridged contents. Outlawing the sale of alcohol. Unpatriotic disloyalty. Variances in appearance due to angular diameter. Atmospheric displacement containing metallic currency. Subterranean. Formidable skyscraper. Singular diarrhea.
Already Solved: Sketch me in the vicinity. (Draw Me Close) 24 hours are superior. (Better Is One Day) Group of lions elsewhere. (Pride Away)

Feel free to list the ones you've figured out. Maybe keep the artists a secret so others can guess that part, too.

I thought I deciphered one title (origami), then I googled to see who recorded such a song, then went to last.fm to see what other songs they've done to see if there are any that match some of the vague ideas I got from the other titles (Richter scale event). since I am not familiar with the artist, I got distracted with making up new titles based on the puzzle ones. but posting them would probably be an obnoxious game-derailment so I will refrain.

The thing is: I can't really think of the song titles. Once someone figures them out, I'll be like "damn it why wasn't it that obvious to me?"

Set 1 = Thrice. The Earth Isn't Humming, Paper Tigers, Red Sky...etc.
Striped origami felines = Paper Tigers Sailor's delight and/or warning = Red Sky Conduct an emotional appraisal of yourself while erect. = Stand and Feel Your Worth Quickly grasp optimism = Hold Fast Hope Inconspicuous cutting tool = A Subtle Dagger Our world doesn't sing through its nose = The Earth Isn't Humming Small poultry's prophecy = Hoods on Peregrine? or Phoenix Ignition? Military advice to a homosexual = Don't Tell and We Won't Ask Everything that the Democrats typically stand for = Cold Cash and Colder Hearts (ba dum shish! no, i dunno) Descendant of minute solid particles = Child of Dust Peaks getting evicted = Moving Mountains
and i'm stumped on the rest.
For a minute I thought set two was Dream Theater, because of what looked like Erotomania, but I don't know. Or...this is out of left field, but Queen?

You're right on set 1. At first I thought it was Peter Tosh (but that didn't make sense because why would murlough think about Tosh?).

Set 1 = Thrice. Yes. Striped origami felines = Paper Tigers Sailor's delight and/or warning = Red Sky Conduct an emotional appraisal of yourself while erect. = Stand and Feel Your Worth Quickly grasp optimism = Hold Fast Hope Inconspicuous cutting tool = A Subtle Dagger Our world doesn't sing through its nose = The Earth Isn't Humming Military advice to a homosexual = Don't Tell and We Won't Ask Descendant of minute solid particles = Child of Dust Peaks getting evicted = Moving Mountains All correct. Small poultry's prophecy = Hoods on Peregrine? or Phoenix Ignition? No. This one's a little tricky because you have to figure out what "small poultry" is and then what its prophecy would be. Everything that the Democrats typically stand for = Cold Cash and Colder Hearts (ba dum shish! no, i dunno) No, but you win the creativity award. (I wanted to do one for that song title, but couldn't think a way to not make it obvious.) For a minute I thought set two was Dream Theater, because of what looked like Erotomania, but I don't know. Or...this is out of left field, but Queen? No on both counts. I think its someone that enough folks here listen to, but I know not everyone does.

Prepubescent = My Juvenile/Immature ? I was thinking "Immature", but I guess either one works. Totally similar to a noble gas = Aurora Xanthic Beatle dwelling = All Neon Like What happens between snoozes = It's Oh So Quiet Cardiovascular pwnage = Pneumonia These are incorrect.

haha, okay, well, I came up with "Gimli Got Fired" for "Recently Downgraded Dwarf". and "Scissors Hides From Paper and Rock" for "Inconspicuous cutting tool". I don't know. I just now saw "Most direct route despite land-based obstacles"--must be something like As The Crow Flies. and I actually thought of Vertebra by Vertebra but wasn't sure about the singular/plural. funny name for a song either way.

haha, okay, well, I came up with "Gimli Got Fired" for "Recently Downgraded Dwarf". Heh. Classic. I just now saw "Most direct route despite land-based obstacles"--must be something like As The Crow Flies. Yes, that is actually one of Thrice's song titles. What's funny is that I use that phrase often when differentiating between direct distance and "Google maps" distance (i.e. driving directions), but I haven't heard it widely used, and on the same day I used it to describe something to a co-worker, I found out it was the title of a song on Thrice's new album. and I actually thought of Vertebra by Vertebra but wasn't sure about the singular/plural. funny name for a song either way. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

What the hey, I'll cobble one together for schil that has to do with an artist she's actually familiar with. (Hopefully the song titles I found aren't too obscure for your average fan of said artist. Don't shoot me if they are.)
Set #4: Patty Griffin (Solved)
Accept his boarding pass. (Let Him Fly) Aerial gymnastic apparatus. (Trapeze) Take precautions. (Be Careful) Humid peninsula. (Florida) Ghetto dwelling. (Poor Man's House) Galen Tyrol. (Chief) Futile ambitions. (Useless Desires) Frustrated evangelical journey. (Mad Mission) Singular TV show about polygamy. (One Big Love) Composition to be sung merrily in a round while pondering one's existential nature. (Rowing Song) Amundsen-Scott on an inverted globe. (Top of the World) Absolute zero. (Cold as It Gets) Frozen stalactites. (Icicles) Cereal endorsing tiger. (Tony) Writhing digits. (Wiggley Fingers) on-deceptive graphite variant. (Truth No. 2) Ballad of pulling one's pants down. (Moon Song) Madonna. (Mother of God) Vermillion loafers. (Burgundy Shoes)

You tower over it = Where is the Line Notable individual made of crystalline precipitation = Frosti
I put that one way earlier, then removed cuz I was was like, "wait, frosties aren't notable individuals." Wasn't thinking of Frosty the Snowman. ^_^
Clueless on the 4 dimensional narrative song. I'm guessing it has to do with time, the 4th dimension. One Day is the only thing I see that has to do with time, and that doesn't fit the narrative part.... hmm..

ha! for #4 the artist is Patty Griffin but I haven't figured out all the titles yet and I don't want to consult my mp3 folder or any song lists. Accept his boarding pass. (Let Him Fly)* (I kept getting Ticket To Ride stuck in my head, which totally did not help.) Aerial gymnastic apparatus. (Trapeze) Take precautions. (Be Careful) Humid peninsula. (Florida) Ghetto dwelling. (Poor Man's House)* Vermillion loafers. (this must be Flaming Red; it could be mistakenly titled Red Shoes.) Galen Tyrol. (Chief) Futile ambitions. (Useless Desires) Frustrated evangelical journey. (Mad Mission) Singular TV show about polygamy. (One Big Love--I didn't know about the tv show though. and oh! that must be why Dr. House nicknamed the LDS Fellow "Big Love". I thought it had to do with his big hair/afro but that didn't make much sense.) Composition to be sung merrily in a round while pondering one's existential nature. (Rowing Song)* Amundsen-Scott on an inverted globe. (Top of the World) Absolute zero. (Cold As It Gets) Frozen stalactites. (Icicles) Cereal endorsing tiger. (Tony) Writhing digits. (Wiggley Fingers) Non-deceptive graphite variant. (Truth #2) Ballad of pulling one's pants down. (what?!?!) (Kite Song? is "kite" slang for pulling one's pants--oh. Moon Song. augh!)* Madonna. (Mary) (also could be Mother of God)* *these are the ones I couldn't get and finally looked at lists to figure out. fun!

I've got it, it's Hyperballad. I honestly still don't get the 4 dimension part, but ballad has to go with narrative song. btw, is it cool if other people try making one of these? I'd like to do one.

I've got it, it's Hyperballad. I honestly still don't get the 4 dimension part, but ballad has to go with narrative song. "Hyper" is a prefix in mathematics used to denote 4 or more dimensions, such as a "hypercube", or "hyperspace". btw, is it cool if other people try making one of these? I'd like to do one. Absolutely. I was hoping that people would be encouraged to try their hand at it.
