Select one song from each album to eliminate.  If you do not know a particular album, omit yourself from voting on that album but vote for those you know.  Voting will end in three days time (Tuesday) at approximately 9:00 P.M. EST.

When it is all done, since I have all their studio efforts, I will burn three copies and send them out to people who have burners, who will then burn copies for others in a tree structure that can be set up later (any problems with this?)

Pablo Honey
You
Creep
How Do You?
Stop Whispering
Thinking About You
Anyone Can Play Guitar
Ripcord

I'm not going to list b-sides or the live tracks right now, but if you feel any of these should be here, nominate them and they'll be on a list under this heading in the next vote.  Limit yourself to 2 or 3 of these kinds of tracks for brevity's sake.

I am excluding Pablo Honey from all my votes.

In round one, I'll give the boot to:

The Bends: "Black Star"

OK Computer: "Electioneering"

Kid A: "Treefingers"

Amnesiac: "Hunting Bears"

Hail to the Thief: "We Suck Young Blood"

Bones
Fitter Happier
In Limbo

This should be cool, though it will get harder and harder to axe certain songs as we go on. Sad

This requires a certain level of participation.  That's the only thing I'm really worried about.  We have three votes for three different things on some of these.

What's with all the RH board saturation of late?

Anyway... wouldn't this game be more fun if we did it one album at a time, and not all six at once?

It's probably because I joined the board.

Seriously, another topic veered into what a best-of disc would look like, and we thought it'd be interesting to determine the cream of the crop by democracy.  It may or may not work, but I'll have fun with it.

Don't be a stick in the mud, Andree.  Vote!

This is gonna be so hard...

Now, Josh, it's cool if the man gets his vote.  HTTT is the most divisive of the albums I think in that I love Backdrifts, you don't.  You love I Will, I think it's alright.  I enjoy WSYB, you don't, etc.  This probably has a lot to do with it being so new.  It's going to be interesting which makes the top cut out of those songs.

I'm not huge on "I Will", mind you, but that songs changeover to the groove that is "Punchup..." is a fine moment in the album.

I shall extend the voting another three days.  That means this round ends Friday at 9:00 P.M. EST.

I don't think we have the number of members needed to make this successful as structured, so you may vote a second choice in each category to get the boot as well.  That way, specific songs will get voted off.

"Black Star"
"Electioneering"
"Motion Picture Soundtrack" (I'm biting my lip through all the Kid A votes, I love that album as a whole so much)
"Hunting Bears" (kind of the "duh" choice, IMO)
"I Will"

Alright, I guess I'd better get in on this. Somebody warn bloop that I have every intention of screwing up the curve here!

My vote:

From The Bends: "Bulletproof... I Wish I Was"

From OK Computer: I like "Fitter Happier" and all, but it's a "non-song", so... bye.

From Kid A: "In Limbo"

From Amnesiac: "Morning Bell/Amnesiac"

From Hail to the Thief: "A Wolf at the Door"

Truth be told, I could care less which songs from Bends makes it to the finals, so long as the title cut survives. That's the only song on that record that I feel that strongly about.

hey sorry, i would have contributed to the vote sooner, only i've had a busy week and just saw this. maybe my vote can help out with the pablo honey elimination, since i'm pretty familiar with it:

Pablo Honey:
Vegetable

The Bends:
Fake Plastic Trees

OK Computer:
No Surprises

Kid A:
Kid A

Amnesiac:
Pact Like Sardines...

Hail to the Thief:
A Wolf at the Door

random B-side, well more of a compilation that i'm nominating: "This mess we;re in" with pj harvey. i was sorry to see in limbo go. i love that song! and i agree with josh, i will is wonderful.

and i didnt totally get it: whats the point of this game? we're going to create a "best of radiohead CD"? if thats the case, i have a burner and can help with that. i also have all the albums, if "production" needed to go quicker.

Hey, the bottom line is that a lot of good songs are going to be knocked off, but hopefully the band will have the wisdom to leave the brilliant ones.  I'm going to have a hard time with OKC and Kid A, but I'll soldier on as I don't want our phorum best-of disc to just be tracks from two albums.

The Bends final should include Street Spirit, the Bends, Fake Plastic Trees, and Just or My Iron Lung, but we shall see.  Street Spirit is the one I see as absolute.  It was just a gorgeous way to end the album.

Kid A WILL have Idioteque and Morning Bell left, or I will kill you all.  (murlough was wise to vote for Morning Bell/Amnesiac...it was quite unnecessary)

I love "This Mess We're In", but I don't know if it should count as it isn't really Radiohead.  It's a PJ Harvey song with Thom Yorke as a guest duet.

Just a reminder, you may vote TWICE.  Just choose the song from each album you think is second least deserving (do not vote for the same song twice).  This was to ensure that this will keep moving.

btw, I will be setting up sending the finalized discs to anyone who has burners.

yeah, i know, but i suggested it because since thom seems to be a more prominent (at least vocally) element in the song, with pj as a nice underlying effect.

hey now! you think i want to see alot of these paired off either? i adore "bulletproof..." and "in limbo." "in limbo" i think is especially important to it's album in tone, theme, etc, but sadly i'm a believer in subjectivity!

dont hate:)

Josh, how can you overlook the awesome power that is "Street Spirit"? OK, so it has a simple and repetitive chord structure... fine. But it's a gorgeous song (I'm learning how to play it... well, sort of). If you ask me, it's the saving grace of an otherwise overly cynical and annoying album (while musicnally very good, the lyrics on The Bends just aren't doing it for me).

So bloop, how does this work. I mean, if we'll be eliminating sogns from each album at a constant rate, won't the albums with more songs end up with more representation on the final disc? Do we really want Pablo Honey to have equal representation? (To be fair, I still need to hear that album... all I've heard is "Creep" and I don't really care for it.)

Anyway, are we in round 2 now? I'm a bit confused as to whether anything has actually been voted off yet, and what's still on the list.

My estimations for the songs that will most likely survive from each album:

The Bends
Street Spirit (Fade Out)
Fake Plastic Trees
The Bends

OK Computer
Paranoid Android
No Surprises
Karma Police

Kid A
Idioteque
How to Disappear Completely
The National Anthem

Amnesiac
Pyramid Song
Knives Out
I Might Be Wrong

Hail to the Thief
There There
2+2=5
Go to Sleep

Not necessarily my preferences... just what I think people will be least likely to vote off.

And yay for whoever else voted for "Wolf".

Actually, I think I'm arbitrating "Pablo Honey" because not enough people know the album to vote on it.  The others are close to each other in number of tracks.

PH - 12 tracks
Bends - 12 tracks
OKC - 12 tracks
Kid A - 10 tracks
Amnesiac - 11 tracks
HTTT - 14 tracks

I'm glad you brought this up.  I think what we'll do is let this round decrease each by one.

Bends, OKC - 11 tracks
Kid A - 9 tracks
Amnesiac - 10 tracks
HTTT - 13 tracks

Then, in second round, I'll take out the bottom two for PH, Bends, OKC, Amnesiac, and HTTT, but only take the bottom one from Kid A.

Bends, OKC - 9 tracks
Kid A - 8 tracks
Amnesiac - 8 tracks
HTTT - 11 tracks

Round three, take one each from Kid A and Amnesiac, and two from the others.

Bends, OKC - 7 tracks
Kid A, Amnesiac - 7 Tracks
HTTT - 9 Tracks

Round 4 - only take two tracks from HTTT, one from the others

Bends, OKC, Kid A, Amnesiac - 6 tracks
HTTT - 7 tracks

Round 5 - the same deal will even them out
Bends, OKC, Kid A, Amnesiac - 5 tracks
HTTT - 5 tracks

One more round, taking out the bottom from each, will leave four tracks a piece for the finals, plus the two I choose from "Pablo Honey".  Make sense?

i also adore streetspirit (fade out)-- see my screenname-- but how is it the saving grace of what you call "overly cynical" content? it's not meant to be uplifitng (although you could argue that, since it ends with "immerse your soul in love,")-- thom says (either on greenplastic or follow me around) that streetspirit is truly the most hopeless song hes ever written (then again, "how to disapear completely" wasnt on the scene yet)

oh bloop! dont scrap others' opnions of pablo honey!

seriously though people, get this album, its really awesome, rough, yes, but great.

The problem is that I have several songs tieing for last in "Pablo Honey" with no tiebreaker in site.  People, download it or something.  Radiohead doesn't care.

Fine...only request the discs if you own copies of the albums blah blah blah.

What Capitol doesn't know won't hurt 'em.  I doubt this is going to dent record sales considering most here own their studio albums.  It could even whet people's appetite for those albums they don't have (only to find out they've been screwed with "Pablo Honey"  hahaHaHaHA).

Heck, you don't need to send me anything, I can just burn my own Radiohead comp. I have all the mp3's (except Pablo Honey, which I'll download as soon as I can tell KaZaa users aren't being watched like hawks), but heck, I'll keep voting just for the sake of posterior.

OK, so we get to vote for two this round? Cool.

The Bends
Bulletproof
Black Star

OK Computer
Lucky
Let Down

Kid A
Motion Picture Soundtrack
Treefingers (I still like it, but it's surrounded by actual songs that are good.)

Amnesiac
Morning Bell/Amnesiac
You and Whose Army?

Hail to the Thief
A Wolf at the Door
Scatterbrain

Heck, you don't need to send me anything, I can just burn my own Radiohead comp. I have all the mp3's (except Pablo Honey, which I'll download as soon as I can tell KaZaa users aren't being watched like hawks), but heck, I'll keep voting just for the sake of posterior.

OK, so we get to vote for two this round? Cool.
umm..."posterity"?

use Soulseek.  It hasn't been working right, but there's a fix if you just change your "Hosts" file.

Or you can just leech on Kazaa and share nothing.  The RIAA has been going only after people sharing songs.

murlough, you voted for three on some of these albums, so I just took your first two mentioned.  We have a tie for last on "The Bends" now, and if that doesn't change, I suppose I'll just can both of them.
