I thought some of this was pretty funny.

Anything you would add?  Subtract?

(I would say Incubus doesn't belong here.  Solid band.)

Incubus is an obviously talented band, but they have almost never realized that talent. I have to back up Cokemachineglow's feelings on them- a band who could do anything but decides not to.

Reel Big Fish?!  Angry

They knocked unspecified similar Christian artists more than them, didn't they?

I have to disagree here.  Morning View (the one with the song they chose) is an impressive album.  I do have to say that I loved their introductory sentence knocking Incubus and Linkin Park, though, but only because it knocked Linkin Park.

They could certainly be a lot less mainstream if they wanted to, but is it really so bad to make solid radio songs?  On alt/rock radio, their songs are generally highlights and I can appreciate them as such.

I'll add that I agree with them that Nelly is shitty, but disagree that he has any good song.

I'm with bloop on Incubus. They have their inconsistent albums, but Morning View was solid once you got used to it, and Light Grenades ain't far behind. It's quite a surprise to see "Aqueous Transmission" get some overdue props; people who liked Incubus seemed to hate that song, but it was always my favorite on the album.

I'd say that "Hot In Herre" is one of the worst songs I've ever heard. Not only is it bland musically, but it's morally reprehensible.

I doubt I'd be as harsh on any of those artists. I have to be familiar with a hefty amount of crap from an artist to think that little of them, and I don't generally stick around if the first few things I hear from an artist are awful. I might have included Nickelback, which sounded novel for all of 3 minutes. Maybe Avril Lavigne? I thought "I'm With You" and "Sk8r Boi" were palatable.

I think the only album of theirs that holds my interest for more than a couple of songs is Crow Left of the Murder. I realize that this is not the popular consensus.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is still my favorite Incubus album.

Among Incubus fans, I think that that is the popular consensus, but I couldn't handle the masturbatory DJ scratching and rap-rock soundalike moments on that one. Actually, if you could explain the appeal of SCIENCE to me, I'd love that because most of the people I've talked to about it aren't people who have the analytical ability to describe the attraction to me, and I think you would be better able to, at least so I know what it is that I'm missing even if I can't gain more of an appreciation for it myself.

The old Incubus debate will probably never be resolved. The albums I like best by the band, I'm used to having to defend to longtime Incubus fans who still can't get over the stylistic change-up.

As for "Great Songs by Crappy Bands", that's a really tough one for me. Most bands I dislike, I've heard at least an album's worth of material from, and usually the presence of that one great song makes me regard them as some slightly less degree of bad than totally, reprehensibly awful. But if I had to dig into my CCM past, where there are some bands I used to like but I now realize kind of sucked, I guess I could come up with the following examples of artists I barely like at all, aside from the one song:

Big Tent Revival: "Two Sets of Jones'"
Day of Fire: "Cornerstone"
Gary Chapman: "A Man After Your Own Heart"
Jeremy Camp: "Understand"
Kutless: "Treason" (though there might be some better examples on their new album)
Parkway: "Found Me Out" (they were better as Silage)
Philmore: "Our Finest Hour" (OK, so I kinda liked their cover of Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer")
Raze: "Never Gonna Let You Go" (still not even that great, but awesome compared to the rest of their flat dance-pop)

As far as mainstream music goes, I've never heard anything else by LFO, but I love the song "Every Other Time", which totally sounds like the kind of humorous novelty song that would be a big hit by a band whose other songs all suck.
