They have an single that releases pretty soon, but they're also working on an LP that may drop late next year or so.
Oh, also new Animal Collective.

I've moved my full list of anticipated albums to the 2009 Music Journals, but I'll continue to use this thread for new album announcements, so as not to clutter that one. Delirious? has what will presumably be a live album documenting one of their final tours coming out on February 24. It is appropriately titled My Soul Sings. I don't normally get into their live albums, but this being their final bow, I figure they'll put a lot of extra care into selecting the setlist and all that.

Glad I'm not the only one. Between that one and Neko, 2009 is at least shaping up to be a great year for album covers-- and that's just from the New Pornos camp!

Marco Benevento, the wildly creative pianist whose "Invisible Baby" was one of my top 15 albums of 2008, is releasing a follow-up, "Me Not Me," in early February.
Also, The National is writing and recording a new album.
And Ramblin' Jack Elliot's new album-- produced by the great and powerful Joe Henry-- comes out in April.

Jars of Clay is seriously considering releasing their new album, The Long Fall Back to Earth, on 4/7. OK, so it's later than March, but that's pretty much the perfect day for them to put out an album.
Plus it comes out on the same day as the new Vienna Teng and Sara Watkins albums... so that's gonna be one kickass day.

The Listening's new album will be called LMNOP. I feel like it should be brought to us by the number 7 or something.

I wonder what the acronym means. Urban Dictionary's offerings for LMNOP are interesting.
There was a rapper in the scene who went by the name LMNO (Leave My Name Out)

I wonder what the acronym means. Urban Dictionary's offerings for LMNOP are interesting. I don't think it's an acronym. According to the interview I read, it's a metaphor for being right in the middle of some change or something (since this section of the alphabet is roughly its middle). Which is kind of a dumb metaphor, if you ask me, but the title sure is fun to say! Not to be confused with the band Elemeno P.

Jars info...haven't seen it posted elsewhere on here...back with Essential, sort of, but with more creative control...which is interesting. new album The Long Fall Back to Earth drops April 21, according to the release. http://www.essentialrecords.com/artists/news.aspx?artist_code=JOC&blurb_id=5065

I briefly made some noise about it on the Jarchives board. I think they're with essential for distribution purposes only. Basically, Essential realized they had lost a good thing, so they made the smart move of still being able to sell the new Jars album under their umbrella, but Jars made the even smarter move of saying, "OK, but this time it's on our terms, no screwing with the album!" Ticked about the release date pushback, since 4/7 was an absolutely perfect date to release a Jars of Clay album, but at least I still get new Vienna Teng and Sara Watkins albums that day. Plus it just makes the likelihood of a pre-release leak that much greater, considering the album's already pretty much ready to go. NP: "Touch", Eric Champion feat. Fleming McWilliams

I've heard mixed reactions from fans about that one, so I'm actually waiting to hear it until I can hear it in the context of the entire album. That might help to mitigate the "Get on Your Boots Effect".

Bob Dylan in April. Rolling Stone has finally given official confirmation to the rumors that have been swirling for the last few weeks.
Man: U2. Joe Henry. Sam Phillips. And now Bob Dylan. This is going to be a landmark year for music, at least here at Hurst HQ. Add to that rumors of a new Grinderman LP and a gut-level hunch that we may be in for new White Stripes and/or Tom Waits, and... well, I'm going to be one very happy camper. And, possibly broke.
