What IS Yu-Gi-Oh? I've heard of it, but I haven't bothered to look it up or anything. Dv: It is a large galaxy, but almost by definition the best bounty hunters would be the ones who are the best-known. Who's the best football player? Maybe there's some controversy, and since there are many aspects to football it's not exactly an analogous question, but I bet you that all the players who are named I will have heard of. And this notion of Fett being the greatest, most-feare bounty hunter has to have come from somewhere. All the EU books ARE approved and sanctioned by LucasBooks, and they have a large host of data on their website about that sort of thing. q quick conversation-killer is a "let's get back on topic" post. Yeah, I think that forcing people to strictly adhere to the topic can stifle creative discussion. When a purpose needs to be accomplished then digression can be counter-productive, but when it's just intelligent (or even just random) conversation a seeming tangent may lead to a more productive topic than otherwise.

[_[ here is what I found. you should like this part, Vlad!: it is Yu-Gi-Oh! rather than merely Yu-Gi-Oh. (maybe you should sue for use of the exclamation mark. ) it started as a comic book and now has an animated show and video games and card games. the character plays a magical (?) card game and playing is called "dueling". my initial impression is that it is like Pokemon for older kids. I'm not too interested in digging deeper. here is a link to the website I visited: http://www.yugiohkingofgames.com/indexmain.html

I have no idea what age group likes Yu-Gi-Oh! but to me it just looks less cutesy or whatever than Pokemon.
who invented boba drinks and why do people like them so much?
how should I vote regarding Proposition 53?
do I even care? should I? if I don't, should I not vote? or should I try to Be Informed?
and I think I figured out how to program the vcr, but we'll see.

Gilmore Girls wasn't on tv tonight, wah. the show was the whole purpose of figuring out how to program the vcr. I like having this Arwen avatar. makes me feel Arwen-y.

I feel rather silly posting with my little brother, since he is only downstairs at the moment. Behold the electronic age! My roommate wanted a file from me last night, so I sent it via IM. Therefore, I was instant messaging my roommate who was about a foot away. I like Eowyn better too, but since I don't like Liv Tyler very much at all, maybe I'm just projecting my feelings. You'd think that as a CS major I'd be a better typist, but I still generally look at the keyboard when I type. I don't as much now as I used to, but it's become almost a habit for me. And speaking of headphones, I have a pretty cool pair of wireless headphones. They claim to get a reception of 150 feet, but I'm lucky if I can walk all around the room and get consistent reception. I guess a dorm has a lot of electromagnetic interference.

As some of you may know, I have both a laptop and a desktop. I was mistaken about my laptop being a Dell, though; it's really this no-name brand. It's a long story, but anyway...
Recently, the hard drive failed. Not a huge surprise, given the cheap parts they like to use in these things. But tech support/customer "service" generally try to offer these inane suggestions, and it's probably not their fault, given the horror stories regarding idiot users that some of my friends in tech support tell me. So instead of my usual "there's a problem and I think it's my hard drive" shtick, I busted out with something more like "My hard drive failed and I need an RMA number so I can return it." They said something to the effect of "how do you know it's the hard drive?" and I replied "the events log in Windows XP mentioned several disk errors during paging operations and the atapi manager logged a large number of timeouts due to bad hardware." They were all like "yes, sir, let me get that for you right away."
The moral of the story: knowing what you're talking about can get you places ^_^

Have you noticed how we generally avoid all political discussion? Do you think is wisdom on our part, or are we just being sissies? I think when there are big issues at stake, it might be worth starting a thread on them. For example, this whole WTO thing sounds like its important. I would start a thread on it, but I know next to nothing about world trade and why they might be disagreeing.

Does everyone know what my avatar is? Me! =D =D And I'm going to steal the explanation, Dv. Dv's avatar, schill, is a picture of a person playing "paintball." Basically, a very advanced form of "tag" in which you use compressed CO2 (or nitrogen) to propel paint-filled gelatin balls at each other. When they hit you, SPLAT!, you're marked, and out of the game.

It's fun, though.
I shy away from political discussion because it generally becomes a point of contention, and though I like to debate and discuss, political discussions never really get anywhere. And despite what some may claim, I don't just argue for argument's sake; I prefer to get something out of it.
In short, I get as ill from political discussions as Josh does from predestination debates. And due to my (arguable) status as a preeminent member of the posting community (and the fact that many others agree with me, or I with them), we don't talk about politics. Either that or we're sissies. Take your pick.

Wow. I wish I could play once a week. Heck, once a month would be good. We only get to play a few times a year. I shoot a very old Spyder Compact, but will upgrade soon, probably to an electro Pirhana. I ordered one back in June, but it never arrived, so I have cancelled the order. Luckily, a guy at our (me, Dv, and Harey's, that is) church is a big paintball player (or was) and knows a store owner that can get me a gun really cheap.
