Anyone see it?  Thoughts?

Well, here's a conservative talking head bitching about it.

I'll let others have their say before I do, but to add just a bit of my own commentary, these people so richly deserve their dissappointment at this last election, IMO.

Good Lord. I couldn't even make it through the article.

I loved it. Of course Jon Stewart was my favorite part, but John Legend's bit really cracked me up. I don't know, I thought it was the quintessential Stephen special because it presented his blend of satire and sincerity perfectly.

I saw approximately the first half of it today while at a friend's house. This was my first time seeing the show, so I wasn't coming in with any preconceptions. Personally, I thought it was standard television fare: overtly crass, as subtle as a nine-iron to the skull, and doing to satire what William Shatner does to acting. While I don't particularly approve of the tone of the article bloop linked, I'd say its criticisms for the part of the show that I watched were pretty much spot-on. I spent more time disgusted than amused.

That said, this is my reaction to about 90% of US television today, so it's possible that I'm just an extreme case.

If you don’t have freedom as a principle, you can never see a reason not to make an exception. There are constantly going to be times when for one reason or another there’s some practical convenience in making an exception.

It's more than the tone of the article that bothers me.  Bozo is taking a shot at Colbert's personal faith based on his job as a satirist, which is well past the line.
