For those currently attending a university, make sure you take full advantage of the student library. Perhaps I'm preaching to the choir, but I feel like my mind was broadened as much by the books I read as the classes I took, especially the first couple years of undergrad. Also, I'm biased, but if your library doesn't implement LibX then find out who to bug and do so until they go through the relatively painless process of creating a LibX edition.

I say this because now that I'm dependent on the Wake County Public Library system to fuel my literary appetite, I realize how much I took for granted the awesomeness of the student library at my disposal.

If you don’t have freedom as a principle, you can never see a reason not to make an exception. There are constantly going to be times when for one reason or another there’s some practical convenience in making an exception.

At my college where I am doing graduate work, I make good use of the library.  Alumni are also able to use the library after getting a certain card.  It's a wonderful thing.
