The high-res graphics are absolutely beautiful, and the movie itself is amusing, entertaining, charming, and all the other breathless superlatives that Josh likes throwing around Smiley

It's seriously like four and a half minutes long; just download and watch it already.

I received an email saying that World War has been made on a board I am watching.  Shocked  I will check it out, but my download speed is slow. I guess I have an hour or so before World War changes my life...

Well, be sure to let me know what you think of it. I hope someone gives him lots of money to make a feature-length film based on the same concept.

I've seen this pop up on a few boards I frequent, and as a top story on Digg.

Honestly, while I felt that it definitely displayed palpable talent, I'm not sure what sets this particular short apart from any other top-tier student short. The visuals are imaginative, but the story (or lack thereof) did not particularly strike me as original or interesting. Is there a layer I'm missing here? I ask out of honest confusion.

Well, I don't necessarily expect a story in a five-minute short. What I expect from it is to see a demonstration of talent which makes me think "I want to see this fleshed out further". I found it interesting how the opening tells you "hey, this is a few decades in our future and 100 years after the end of WWII" and then presents very traditional WWII imagery...until it stands it on its head. I can appreciate how well the characters emote without using words (though I seem to recall a feature-length film by some small animation company that used the same strategy...) and how it walked the line between comedic and intense very well.

Personally, I found it four an a half minutes well-spent, but if it didn't do much for you then it doesn't bother me any.

I thought it looked pretty cool, but I groaned at the Wolverine claws. and I had the impression that the world asploded so big that the bomber plane would have been destroyed even if it had succeeded in simply dropping the bomb or getting away from the tank. (actually I think the whole world went kaput.) so I was like "well that was pointless." I liked seeing the bomber plane do its martial arts stuff but thought some of the slow motion bits were unnecessary. I dunno, it seems like the creator wanted to do a Transformer-y, martial artsy robot fight and came up with a story for it. which is fine, but judging from the title I expected something more profound.

as a student's final project, great job. I'm sure he'll be able to make money doing what he loves.
