Uploaded three connected movements from Sufjan Stevens' The BQE (essentially my favorite part of the album), a sampling of the new Out of the Gre, and Future of Forestry's spacious arrangement of "O Holy Night".

BTW, I really liked the Baroness tracks that I downloaded.
Uprising was standard Muse, which is to say I enjoyed it tolerably well. For some reason I've been able to get into Muse a lot more readily than Radiohead, even though vocally the two sound similar (at least to me).

For some reason I've been able to get into Muse a lot more readily than Radiohead, even though vocally the two sound similar (at least to me). I used to HATE Muse because I thought the dude sounded too much like Thom Yorke. I still think he oversings sometimes (more so on older stuff than newer stuff), but I think he's done a reasonable enough job of differentiating his singing style from Yorke's. A guy can only do so much about his voice sounding similar to someone else's - I can't defend Delirious? on that issue and attack Muse for the same thing. (Sometimes Thom Yorke grates on my nerves, too, though less frequently in recent years, since their music tends to be more ominous than intense.) "Uprising" is one of my favorite songs of the entire year. I think the opening trilogy on The Resistance is pretty much flawless, as is the closing trilogy (which was pubbed a while back), though for entirely different reasons. Most of the middle's pretty damn good, too.

I feel the same way about this year's Muse as about last year's Coldplay. There are better, more challenging albums out there, but it's the best thing that the mainstream is picking up on. They occupy a more accessible space than Radiohead, so I can understand that. I'll take it.
Glad you liked the Baroness.

Don't know how to rename tracks, but I uploaded these:
"Architecture" -Mute Math (Backfire Single) "I Think I Can" -Animal Collective (Fall Be Kind EP) "Swim" -Surfer Blood (Astro Coast)
I ripped "Architecture" from my record player, so you may hear some pops and hiss and such.

The F2 key should initiate a rename in Windows, KDE, and Gnome (don't know about OSX).

Ok...so I got the Contra reference (anyone who played that game for any length of time no doubt became very familiar with the first level), but I had to look at the Pub to see how it related to actual music :/

I'm the reverse; knew about the album, but had never played the game and didn't even make the connection to a video game.

Just uploaded three new songs to the Pub, and requested my old songs to be deleted. Here's what I put up:
1. NEEDTOBREATHE: "Won't Turn Back" This up-tempo acoustic pop song is my favorite song from an album that I thought was one of the most pleasant surprises from last year.
2. Seabird: "This Road" This up-tempo track in 6/8 time may well be my favorite song from this piano-rock band.
3. We Shot The Moon: "A Silver Lining" Thanks to dgp for recommending this piano-rock band to me. This is the title track from their most recent album.
P.S. There was a snafu in uploading my tracks the first time I tried, and the NEEDTOBREATHE song accidently got uploaded twice. Feel free to delete the extra copy. It doesn't need to be on there twice.

I put up some Big Star, in memory of Alex Chilton. If you like a good pop rock album, you owe it to yourself. Probably their best-known song now is That Song from "That 70s Show".

I uploaded a couple of tracks and I obviously should've renamed them before I uploaded them. I don't know if I can change the names now or not. Sorry about that, I'm new at this and not too good at it, obviously.
The songs I put up are "Autumn" by All The Day Holiday and "Ghosts" by The Frozen Ocean. All The Day Holiday sound like a mix of Mute Math and U2. The Frozen Ocean track is a beautiful ambient post-rock kind of song. Let me know if you like them!

Thanks for these, they were both pretty interesting. I also enjoyed the new Mute Math and Animal Collective songs that were up there. I went ahead and downloaded the Fall Be Kind EP, just to hear the Collective in a more challenging context than on MPP.

You're not required to like everything one of your musical heroes does. Especially if it's some other boring band's album and your hero just produced it. There's only so much a producer can do to touch up a boring band's work, so it's not like you're saying specifically that it's his fault and he did a bad production job. You can paint crap gold and it's still crap.
I'm sure I've shared the story of how I got introduced to Thom Daugherty from The Elms before.

Yeah, you're right. He actually did a wonderful job on the production. If I knew he visited the website I would've been sure to include that in my comments about the album. I'm sure I've shared the story of how I got introduced to Thom Daugherty from The Elms before.
