Dan Auerbach - Keep it Hid

Here's a pleasant surprise: The debut solo album from the lead singer of the Black Keys is an album that favorably compares to the best work form his full-time band. Auerbach expands his stylistic palette here to include country and psychadelia, and the muscle comes less from the bluesy guitar and more from the sinister whirring of the organs. It's the best kind of solo side project-- different enough from a Black Keys album that it justifies its own existence, but not so radical a departure that it feels like he's trying to escape from who he is. Really fine record.

Listening to this now. I knew I read about it someplace and then realized you mentioned it here.
