Roaring Lambs is the most life-changing book I've ever read outside of the Bible.

I'm reading Michael Crichton's Timeline and various Flannery O'Connor short stories.

I read about a third of The Sacred Romance before I left for college. I found it to be hit-and-miss, with a few very good parts and also some not-so-good sections. I have to say that I liked John's writing the most.

Two interesting (text)books I'm reading are Comparitive Religious Ethics and Analyzing Moral Issues. Neither of these books impress me greatly, but both of them occasionally say something profound, and the section on logically analyzing a moral argument in the latter book has some good things to say, even if it could use a few more revisions and rewritings before it is truly readable.

i read eldredge's 'scared romance' and 'the journey of desire.'  they are both very similar, but i think the latter is better.  it's more comprehensive, less, as vlad says, hit-and-miss.

I've read a couple of those. The Wishstone of Shanara, for one, and another whose name I have long forgotten. He's a good writer, but I never found myself being drawn in like I am when I read Tolkien or even CS Lewis.

Very pleased. You'll never get through the whole series, tho. It took you, what? a year or two to read Lord of the Rings?

At the moment I am poking through Dune and Mere Christianity.  Both slowly, due to the fact that school takes up most of the time that would normally be used to read.

No, it took me a few days for each book. I just stopped between FOTR and TT. after TT i waited for the movie, then read ROTK right after TT. Thats the only reason it took so long.

I wasn't saying that you read slow, just that you seem to get distracted by other reading (or are just too busy to read much).

Math books are fascinating. They lay out numbers, logic, and theories and teach you how to manipulate them. And math is absolute: there's nothing that's open to interpretation (well, nothing at the level that us mere mortals attempt to comprehend). History is all about interpretation, and it's all a bunch of stiffs. Who wants that?
