Just finished Dark Places by Gillian Flynn.  It is very well written, filled with edge of your seat suspense, but I kind of wish I had never read it.  Dark places, indeed.

I just interact with him on a semi-regular basis, so it's always a bit of a shock to remember that he's been becoming fairly known author outside of local circles.

I didn't finish Contact yet; the narrator's voice is annoying me. listening to The Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan instead.

Primal: A Quest for the Lost Soul of Christianity  by Mark Batterson

I was chosen as one of 50-100 people with blogs to get a pre-release and review it and so forth.  VERY cool.

I'll be honest, I will not have time to read this book. I have so much theology reading to do for the next two semesters that I'll be lucky to even finish my required reading, much less read a book for my own enjoyment. I've just heard so many versions of the "stripping Christianity down to its core" message, I'm curious to know what this author's take on the "core" is.

Code version 2.0, by Larry Lessig.

I figured I'd just skim this one, but as it turns out Lessig is an insightful and informative author. He doesn't presuppose any knowledge on technical subjects and does a great job not only discussing emerging issues of regulation and control but also explaining why it is that we, the ordinary citizens, should care about these issues. If I had my way I would make every high school senior read this book and then tell them "this is the world you will be living in...what are you going to do about it?"

I usually jot down notes, insights, and thoughts while I'm reading. Most books use a few lines of notebook paper. I've filled one sheet and am only halfway through. There's some good stuff in here.

I read some descriptions about that book online. I'd like to read it, but our library doesn't have it and I'm not sure I want to read it enough to buy it. Did you find it to be worthwhile?
