Maybe I'm the only one who searches YouTube to check out music, but it sucks.

http://listen.grooveshark.com/

I've been checking it out today and it seems to do more or less what I want, plus or minus some difficulty in finding the right version of a song. It hasn't asked me for any money yet. I'll update this thread if it does.

interesting. I discovered a bonus track on an album I have sans bonus tracks. I didn't even know about the other edition of the album. so that was annoying. but I was able to listen to the full song on grooveshark, and the quality was better than I had expected. so that made up for the annoyance somewhat. it doesn't have the other bonus track though. so I don't know. laugh

I've found it very schizophrenic about what it has and what it doesn't. Sometimes it will have crazy-esoteric stuff, but then I looked for some freaking Led Zeppelin songs and couldn't find them. I guess it's just whatever users decide to upload and share. Still, better than searching youtube.

You can also check out the comment thread on the post where I found this service. They list several other similar services that may suck less, or perhaps at least suck in different and less annoying ways.

Ha! Coincidently, I just found that website a couple days ago. One thing I don't like about it, is that it doesn't have recent releases (at least from what I looked at). I guess it takes a while for more recent music/albums to be uploaded to the site. But if the site has the album/music you want to listen to, it's certainly much better than Youtube. But if there's no place else to find a certain song without buying the song or a CD, Youtube is fine with me, even if it does become annoying to use sometimes.

So I want to try and see if playlist sharing works without having an account. If you don't have an account, see if you can view and play this playlist:
This afternoon's working music.

If you can, it might be another spiffy way to share music.

Fancy.

This seems like the sort of thing that would be useful for discussing music, which I admittedly don't do much of on the Phorum.
