But, make no mistake.  A strict and showy adherence to Law, or adding rules that simply aren't Biblical and calling it "Law", is Pharisaical in fact.  It's not a matter of perspective.  It just is what it is.

I agree 100%. Just wanted to point out that even though you wouldn't characterize these things as deviations from you, you'd obviously want to deviate from them upon identifying them as Pharisaical.

The hard part is sorting out what laws are actually Biblical (and applicable to all Christians for all time), and what laws were added later. Some of 'em might have been reasonable guidelines - helpful ways to apply Biblical laws that made sense in a particular time and place, but that now need to be re-examined due to changes in our culture. The truth of the Biblical laws still applies, but the applications might be different. (This approach is different than the simple "Throwing out the passages you don't like" accusations that the Pharisees will commonly rebut this sort of thinking with.)
