I'm taking all of next week off, since it's been pretty busy at work and we're finishing up our milestone tomorrow. I'm going camping near Falls Lake this weekend and then I'll be traveling to east Tennessee to visit my parents and Mark's family.
Anyone doing anything entertaining?

Headed to Lake Hartwell (border of Georgia/South Carolina) to see an old friend of my wife's. They're throwing a big lake party, so we're off to the festivities.

^ Nice! Sounds like fun. If you need any lasers or anything, let me know.
I think my in-laws might be coming down for the 4th, which would be great. We're going to try to do our usual - smooth talk our way into getting invited out on the lake by some of our boat-owning friends.

Haha, that pretty much describes what I did for Memorial Day. What lake(s) do you generally frequent around Charlotte? I have Lake Crabtree and Bond Lake really close to my house, but when we say we're going to "the lake", we generally mean Falls Lake or Kerr Lake.

I live within a few miles of Lake Norman, so that's what "going to the lake" means where I live. Mountain Island Lake is about 10 miles south, but it's not nearly as big as Norman. Norman is a nice lake, but it often gets overcrowded in the summer.

I'm gonna be relaxing at the annual Iowa City Jazz Festival. Bill Frissel's playing, along with tons of others most of whom I've never heard of. Should be a good time though.

Try to check out Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue if you can. Fun stuff from New Orleans. Dave Holland Quintet should be really good. Holland performed on Miles Davis' Bitches Brew and has played with Chick Corea. In the jazz world, that equals an epic WIN. (I looked up the website)

Speaking about New Orleans, I'm actually going there tomorrow for their 4th of July festivities. It helps that I only live 70 miles away.

I'll be in San Francisco. Don't know exactly what my friends have planned, I'm just along for the ride.

Barbecue this afternoon, then working 3-10. Good a way as any to celebrate wealthy white aristocrats who didn't want to pay their taxes, I suppose!

Saw Trombone Shorty, they were indeed a lot of fun. Dave Holland is after Bill Frissel tonight, so that should be good.
