As you may have noticed, we suffered a slight domain outage earlier today. This isn't the fault of the Phorum staff or FlockHosting, but was instead an error on the part of godaddy.com, the registrar for thephorum.net. Chuck the ninja admin got us back up quickly, and he is transferring our domain registration to FlockHosting.com so that we won't have to deal with a third party (especially one like godaddy, which I find especially reprehensible).

Hopefully you pholks weren't inconvenienced too much...I suspect that unless you check the phorum obsessively like me, you didn't even notice Smiley

I didn't notice, either. I also do not like/trust GoDaddy. Good move with transferring away from them.

I'm glad you guys didn't notice the downtime.

Agreed. Back when we first registered with them (six years ago!) they were a respectable registrar who gave good deals; now they're...not-so-respectable...and give decent-but-not-great prices.

The phorum was out again this morning. Apparently the server we're hosted on (named "faith", apparently because it takes a lot of faith for it to keep running) went down in the datacenter.

You can find more information on flockhosting's weblog here.

I noticed it before I went in to work, but I checked Chuck's twitter account and apparently he was, as usual, already on it, so I figured I wouldn't add my complaining voice to the throng Smiley

I hope you pholks weren't too inconvenienced.
