Someone else from the same college, judging by the IP. Presumably they know each-other IRL.

What, you were expecting the reincarnation of Simon Peter?

Something like that.  Since I'm not up on my theologians, I thought we may have been speaking to a live one.   :ρ

lol.

I am spacebrat's friend who wrote the segment he copied above.
He was just surprised because he didn't know I had joined this forum.

I wouldn't think our IP's would have a correlation, but our e-mails should show that we both go to APU.

Haha, what time would that be? This decade? When in the history of the Phorum have we not had some religious debate percolating in the background?

What, we have religious debates here, too?!

I've skipped most of them for a while now.  I feel underqualified in this area.

(I think mur might be airing dirty laundry from another section of the phorum into the F&G section, btw).

This was snowballing off-topic quickly, so I decided to split it off and move it here.

Simon: Glad to have you around. If you're bored you can read the PhAQ, but it's not really required.

As to us not getting along, I don't know of any emerging issues so it's probably some squabble the audiophiles are getting into on the music board about whether music is best enjoyed on vinyl or etched into wax cylinders or something, or perhaps which indie darling band has sold out by actually turning a profit. These kids; can't leave 'em alone for a minute.

Audiophiles spend thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars on equipment.  No one here fits that description too well.  We are merely music nerds.  That said, I need to try these wax cylinders of which you speak.

Welcome, Simon.

Ironically, I originally wrote "music nerds" but chose the term audiophiles because I thought it would be less offensive Smiley

I am definitely not offended by the term music nerd.  It's a much more endearing term than say, Trekkie.  *avoids stones*

It may not be an offensive term in itself, but since I definitely couched it in such a way that it's obvious I'm speaking pejoratively (though affectionately) about a group I don't include myself in, the potential for offense was there. Not that Phorumers are thin-skinned as a rule, but as an admin I have to at least keep up a facade of impartiality Smiley

Wow been here a couple days and I already have a thread devoted to me, thanks guys.

I haven't really gotten to the music section much in my lurking so I wouldn't know about your apparent recent frustrations with each other.

Don't let it go to your head...after the first few posts we characteristically turned the conversation to our favorite topic: ourselves Wink

Who invited the n00b?

Every newbie gets their fair share of harassment.  Just ask NewDimension, who was the most active n00b before Simon.

I wrote a few pages today.  I write in spurts.  Some parts of the day, I am totally motivated and energized to read.  Other parts, I can't clear my mind.

Yes, from that section. No, not airing dirty laundry. Just figuring it was better to be upfront about an isolated problem there that he could potentially stumble across and mistakenly think it's always like that. It's not. I didn't want our squabbling to make someone else feel unwelcome.

Oh, and "music nerd" works for me.
