Haha, so tonight I was hanging out with some friends for non-birthday-related activities, and since I like to keep it kind of low-key, I was feeling good about how I had successfully flown under the radar...until one friend arrived late and was like "happy birthday!". I mean, you totally can't get mad about that, but at the same time it's all "oh, great, now I have to sit through the birthday song and have people fight to pay for my meal (at least these people know me well, so I didn't have the extra awkwardness of explaining that I appreciate the dessert they bought me but I can't eat it because I'm allergic to chocolate).
