Mom has become emotionally unsound to the point of having to take a leave of absence from work. She and Dad really cannot afford for her to not work. I'm not sure what's going to happen. She has a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Please pray that she will be completely honest with her doctor - she's been in denial about this for some time - and that she will be able to get and afford the treatment she needs to become well.

This made me laugh inside. I posted a prayer request on another Christian forum I frequent, and I received this as a response:

Quote
Hey, the doctor is not the answer, nor is there any promise that the doctor will have the answer, but Jesus is THE answer. Unless the Dr. is a christian and will pray for her, it is no good and may be a problem later if she is open and honest with her Dr. What we need to do is to repent. Now I know that Mom might not want to do that because she has made an appointment to go to a Dr., but you can put your hand on Mom and ask Jesus to show her what has caused this sickness and ask her to forgive whoever it is she needs to forgive.

Lord I ask that you will touch her Mom as she asks if she can pray for her and soften her heart so that she will hear from you somehow, and find the courage she needs to forgive, and to ask for forgiveness, and That the whole family situation be fully restored. in Jesus Name. Amen

Heh. I am reminded of Job's "friends" who told him that if he would just get with the program and confess his sin already then he would be healed.

I'm going to use that, if you don't mind. Thank you.

If it's not too personal, do you mind sharing what's going on with this situation? It's always nice to have updates on the things we're praying about Smiley

She's had one appointment with a neural psychologist, going through a series of tests, and has another to go on Monday. After that, it will take about three weeks for a report to be typed up and submitted. After that, we'll hopefully have a clearer picture on what to do next. Mom is visibly frustrated a lot of the time. It's understandable; she's been very mentally sharp in the past, and she's almost forgetting how to cook, forgetting to check on things, which is something she's done since childhood.

First round of tests are done. Mom has impaired to severely impaired cognitive function. She'll never be able to work again. She's been forced into early retirement, but should start receiving full benefits after the application for disability goes through. She has her first appointment with a neurologist tomorrow. Oh, Dad got laid off, too.

Wow, sounds like a rough ride. I'll be sure to keep praying for your family.
