Check out the band, States. It features the beautiful voice of Mindy White (formerly of Lydia) and Bryan and Stephen Laurenson of Copeland. Being a big fan of Lydia and Copeland, I'm really excited for this!

Here's an article about famous artists who steal their songs from other artists. (Beware of bad language.)

That makes it even funnier that the Supertones used to rip off Metallica riffs.

Interesting. I wonder if that means those folks will play on the (e)vening EP. I'm guessing not, or at least not on most of the songs, since many have already been recorded.

Yeah, I guess it's possible they could be on a couple songs for it. If I'm not mistaken, their former bassist has been involved with the production of the EP's anyways. It'll be interesting the see what happens next!

For any vinyl (and cassette) lovers out there, you should check out this company. They've received a good amount of money from me as they keep releasing albums that I love. http://brokencircles.storenvy.com/

I was just wondering about this elusive Sufjan follow-up yesterday while listening to Illinois for the zillionth time. I'm at once excited and worried. I'm fine with changing the sound, but I hope he doesn't second-guess himself to the point where he subverts the stuff he was good at.

Also the piano/trumpet player for The Reign of Kindo has left the band.

At least he recorded all of his stuff for the new album before leaving, but it's still sad.

He's gonna be a tough one to replace - the piano playing was vital to their musical style.

Just what I was thinking. I also enjoyed the trumpet parts, being a trumpet player myself, but the piano parts were what made The Reign of Kindo so great, IMO. He seems to be a big reason for their jazz influence as well.

Yes. They can't lose that influence, or they will become just another in a too-long line of Coldplay/The Fray-wannabe piano rock bands.

Wanting a new Jeremy Camp album at all is a bad idea.

Do these folks even know what metal is? 'Cause constipated baritone grunting over chugga-chugga guitars a la 12 Stones ain't it, and that's likely about the best Camp will be able to muster.

The guy who started this group runs IndieVisionMusic.com, which is a very good Christian Indie, Metal, and Alternative news website. Unfortunately, most of the people on staff (including the guy who runs the site) have mediocre to awful taste in music. It frustrates me to no end because the site has the potential to be great and influential.

I missed the part where something was good about this site? I'm guessing they post news about good bands even if they don't actually listen to/like those bands?

Haha, I guess you're right.

It's the only place I know of that specifies in christian metal, hardcore, indie, & alternative news and actually seems to be somewhat on top of things.  They also often get exclusive free downloads from up and coming bands. I actually found one of my favorite new bands (Dependency) because of that. Also, some of my favorite musicians will often post in the comments section, which is nice to see.

It just sucks that those who run the site tend to enjoy the more mediocre bands in the scene. Their reviews make me want to scream at the computer sometimes.

http://absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=1684812

There are now rumors going around that the members will be reuniting for a farewell tour. I will seriously cry like a baby if Mae call it quits (pathetic, but probably true). Holding my breath for some kind of official announcement about what's going on regarding the lineup. There appears to be news coming soon based on hints that are being posted by the band.

Mae's official announcement about their reunion tour with their 5 core members followed by an indefinite hiatus. I guess that's better than saying "We're breaking up after this tour".

I'm not so sure that it is. An actual breakup leads me to expect that it's final; I get the mourning period over with and move on to other things. An "indefinite hiatus" has me anticipating an eventual regrouping for a new album over the course of several years before I finally figure out that it's B.S. and we're never gonna get that new dc Talk album and YES I AM STILL BITTER.

If it makes you feel any better, Kevin Max has said on Facebook and Twitter that he is trying to get a DC Talk tour organized, hopefully for next year. So after all these years, it seems progress is being made at last.

This could just be performing old material for nostalgia's sake. I'm still iffy about the prospects for a new album, or whether I'd even like the results when the reason they split in the first place was because they were all going in such radically different directions. (Supernatural's one of my favorite albums ever, but it was reportedly very difficult to complete because the songwriting was going every which way and they couldn't agree on stuff.)

I like it. Nothing revolutionary, but they're doing what they do best.

I haven't seen Anberlin live since 2006. Do they actually mic a backup vocalist nowadays? One of my pet peeves back then was that Christian's vocals on the studio versions overlap themselves so much that he has to leave out portions of lyrics. (Try singing along to "Adelaide" for a good example of this.)

It's been two years since I last saw them and I can't remember if they did then of not. Their van broke down and they didn't make it to the Ichthus Festival where I was supposed to see them last weekend, otherwise I could probably tell you.

I'm not really crazy about the song. I have high hopes for this album with Brenden O'Brien producing, but I'm beginning to think that they're at their best with Aaron Sprinkle producing. I don't see them going back to him as long as they're on a major label, though, unfortunately.

I wouldn't judge production based on a YouTube video. The audio quality is going to get compressed upon upload.

That article got me interested in seeing how many fans other musicians have on Facebook, here's the artists I found with more than 5 million fans:
Michael Jackson (Almost 14 million)
Lady Gaga (Almost 10 million)
Linkin Park (Almost 6.5 million)
Lil Wayne (Just over 6 million)
Justin Bieber (Almost 6 million)
Taylor Swift (Almost 6 million)
Eminem (Almost 5.5 million)
Bob Marley (Just over 5 million)

Artists nearing 5 million:
The Beatles (I was a quite surprised that Bob Marley had more Facebook fans than The Beatles)
Rihanna
Coldplay
