R.E.M. Breaks Up

A bit of a bummer, because this was the year I finally got into them, both current stuff and back catalog. I'll miss 'em. Those who have been following them for ages will probably miss 'em more, aside from the folks with the nostalgia blinders on who wouldn't accept anything other than a repeat of an earlier era in their history, I guess.

They had a great run. I'm a little surprised - not so much as a murmur of this before they announced disbanding. By my reckoning, at least 5 classic monster albums.

That could be a little difficult for others to keep up with. It might be second nature to us, but such things don't usually come automatic for most people.
