This from relevantmagazine.com
"Is this the end for Outkast? Andre 3000 revealed recently that hip-hop music no longer stimulates him and that he would not be touring to support their new double-CD, Speakerboxx/The Love Below, which releases Tuesday. "I don't feel the music the same way I did when I first got into hip-hop, loving it, loving writing lyrics and studying other people's lyrics," Andre told The New York Times. "Back then all I would think about was beats and rhymes." Andre moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career and has taken up the clarinet and saxophone and is contemplating enrolling in a music school. "The next time I perform on stage, I see myself playing in a band," Andre continued. "I want it to be a total departure from Outkast"

I hope not, but then again, Andre is sounding a bit like Thom Yorke when he talks about Radiohead. It's like he needs to apologize for sounding like what they sound like, needing constant innovation, which just seems like a strange concept to me (and one that I don't think any artist is really capable in pulling off), but I don't think you've heard the last of them.
Andre's disc is the stranger of the two on the new album, and probably my favorite as well. As it is, this thing is going to debut HIGH on my list...not sure where, but it's very strong.

Wow, not even touring for it? He's willing to bypass making extra $$. He must really be out of it. latinchic

I definitely agree that Andre's is the weirder of the albums...he also sings for the vocals more, instead of rapping...I'll need to actually buy the album and listen to it more before I can decide which one I like better, since I'm just going off of what I've heard from listening to the album at mtv.com... How about that skit where Andree says God is a woman? The guy is a goofball...He'd definitely one of the most eccentric people in music right now...Plus, have you seen his "Hey Ya" video? I love that video...it's different than any other music video I've ever seen...

In that song, he's asking God for a woman (and God appears as a woman apparently). It's pretty funny..."God...I just need a sweet bitch." I laughed when he went there.

I bought the album today. Who says downloaders don't purchase?
Anyway, I take back the preference thing. Both discs are pretty great, now let's hope for an actual collaborative effort on the next one. They might as well have just released two excellent solo albums.

I would say that I don't know why there's so many skits, but that's kind of a hallmark of the genre anyway, so I don't really hold that against them.

I bought the two albums yesterday, and like Bloop, I think Andre's CD is the better of the two...It's interesting to see/hear Andre's thoughts on and search for love...One minute, he's talking about some hot girl he picked up in a club (Stretch), the next he's saying "you know what I wanna know? where do all the GOOD girls go? what club do they hang at?" (Behold a Lady). While I don't agree with everything he says, I still think it's very intriguing. I also wish that song with Norah Jones, "Take off your Cool" was longer...I love that track. Big Boi's disc is more like the Outkast we're used to, and I enjoy it as well, it's just I find Andree's much more creative and interesting.

I've somewhat revised my stance on the two after repeated listens. I think Big Boi's is better overall because it's more consistently good, but Andre 3000's disc has the greater highs in my opinion, so I guess it's kind of a toss-up.
I just watched the video to "Hey Ya". Very funny...which "band member" is least fashion-conscious would be a month long debate.
