Fun facts about Chuck Norris:
Newton's Third Law is wrong: Although it states that for each action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, there is no force equal in reaction to a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick.
Chuck Norris can divide by zero.

What the? New Years Days is different than the "Best of" version? Nobody told me about this. I absolutely, positively DESPISE the Best of 1980-1990 disc because they butchered several of the songs. The War version is much, much, much better. AND I WILL NEVER FORGIVE THEM FOR TOTALLY RUINING "STREETS"!

I actually didn't notice the difference in Streets, accept that the best of version seems to have better sound quality. They should tell you that they are remixing the songs. I had no idea.
Now that I'm further into the album(at "Drowning Man" now), I realize that this sounds a lot more like 80s rock than the other albums I mentioned. Its not nearly as refined as their later stuff, but it has tons of energy. I like it, but not nearly as much as the later stuff.

Ah yes, I should tack that on there too. I didn't because I bought it separately from the rest. I don't know what I think about it, actually. In some ways, I think it has awesome musician and good lyrics, especially for metal type music. I also think that they tend to stay in a certain groove for a long time, and just build it it up slowly. I think this makes it a little repetative.

If memory serves, they, like, cut three minutes off "Streets" for the best-of version. Sin. War is definitely a little dated, but not much. "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "New Years Day" still sound as good as anything on rock radio.

I agree with Josh on this one. And your observations would be correct, Dv. War is a bit dated, it definitely sounds like it was made in the 1980s. It's still good stuff, even if it doesn't hold a lot of U2 favorites. And yes, SBS and NYD are still as good as ever.
I await to hear what you have to say about Switchfoot and Miles Davis.

Just finishing up with (). Interesting. Ethereal, grand sounding, somtetimes spooky, often majestic. Great studying music. Its hard when the songs have no names to comment on them. BTW, TJT Streets is one minute longer than the Best Of version. I'm not sure why, but I can't figure out whats missing, just from memory, where as I could instantly with New Years Day. Is it missing stuff off the end? Why don't they tell you they are editing? I think people have I right to know.

Kind of Blue: Interesting, but it didn't blow me away like I was expecting. In jazz, I like cool chord progressions and unorthodox rythms. I know you are probably saying "But, Dv, you're missing the point! Its modal!" Yes, thats true, but I like what chord progressions give you. Still, the album seems to be pretty good. All the songs are running together at this point, so lets wait and see.

I'll let you know what happens with all of these. [EDIT]Listened to the first song off the album. Interesting. I find this whole DJ thing very fascinating. All my technical questions are popping up again. This definately sounds different than that stupid radio stuff. [_[

I just finished listening to "The Beautiful Letdown." I like their sound, but none of the songs are sticking out much at me right now. Very sharp sounding, though. I need to hear this one again to really say much more. NP:Mars Ill, Love's Not

Oh COOL! I didn't realize we could change around the COLOR and SIZE like this! Don't overuse it, please. [_[ What impresses you about Mars Ill, Dv? I'm not quite sure. Think it's that the lyrics were actually much more inteligent and insightful than I was expecting. Also, I find the whole turntable/sampling thing to be quite intriguing. The whole concept of hip-hop is new to me, so hearing all these elements put together in the way they are is pretty cool. I like some of the wordplay.

I notice in Switchfoot's "Gone", there is this line "Hey Bono, I'm glad you asked. LIfe is still worth living, life is more that we are." What is this reffering to?
I listened to the Michael Card CD. All songs a grew up with, stripped of their dated sound. I like it.

Simply the fact that, more so than any other songwriter I know of, Bono is concerned with asking the big, genuinely important questions in life. As far as I know, it's not a reference to a specific U2 song.

Wow...I'm glad you like Mars Ill B) . You are right about the depth of their lyrics...IMO, Manchild (the rapper) is one of the best in all of hip hop when it comes to insightful, meaningful lyrics...You should get their new album "Backbreakanomics" as well...and that one actually has lyrics posted at http://www.marsill.com
