anybody know "The Zombies"? gr8 band lasted from '62 - '67 or something... have been compared to the Beatles, but i think these guys are way better (scrilege, i know). the singer's vocals are insane (known for "breathy"), the drumming is just really phat on the entire 1990 "Greatest Hits" disc. love that funky organ/"electric piano" too. not much for geetar or bass, but it is just grand stuff, full of energy, light enough, and full of emotion. check out the lyrics for "Imagine the Swan":

Well I have a picture in color of you
And it's there in my room to remind me of you
So it was with surprise that I saw you today
And I did not recognize you, girl, what more can I say?

 For the colors are gone
 You've become kind of gray
And you're not like the swan
 That I knew yesterday...

 Now the pictures are wrong
 You've become kind of gray
 I imagine the swan
 That you were yesterday...

The sadness that I felt was hard on my eyes
And the truth on my face was hard to disguse
So I let you walk by
I turned out of your way
And I tried to close my eyes
And let the sadness fall away...

 For the colors are gone
 You've become kind of gray
And you're not like the swan
 That I knew yesterday...

 Now the pictures are wrong
 You've become kind of gray
 I imagine the swan
 That you were yesterday...

thoughts? comments? i hope SOMEONE knows these guys...

The old band that is new for me that I got into within the past year is The Velvet Underground.  These Zombies sound interesting.

Do you believe in downloading from Soulseek or Kazaa?  If so, I suggest "Venus in Furs" from the first album, "White Light" from their second, "I'm Set Free" from their third and "Who Loves the Sun" from their fourth.

i do not download; i find it upsetting that you (or anyone) would have to ask. it is theft, theft is illegal, illegalities are sins. thus, pirating music is a sin. there are thousands of arguments around it, but it is kristal klear to me. but thanks anyway... if u know of any links where i can listen w/o downloading, lemme know. btw, themusicuk.com is a gr8 such link.

Alright.  Far be it from me to endanger a person's soul.

I got into them by downloading and then bought the albums.  It's the way I operate as a rule.  Clips don't really tell me much.
