I just listened to the cutting room floor by over the rhine all the way through for the first time.  I have to say I really agree with your review Josh,  I especially liked the cover of "helpless" but the millers and erin mckeown almost ruined the song for me......mckeown sounded like bjork gone folk and julie miller sounded like olive oil but those are qualms I have about those artists and not over the rhine......over all a good collection for fans......i just borrowed the steven delopolous cd from a friend as well....havent spent much time with it other than hearing it as background music at work but I seem to remember liking the first half of the cd alright but then it just fell apart lyrically and musically for me.

Glad you like Cutting Room Floor, Matt. It's not an album that I play often, but it's great for a collection of leftovers, and a must-have for big OtR phans like you and I.

What do you think of the alternate mixes and demo versions of the Films for Radio songs?

And let's make a separate thread for Bjork.  =)

Well I don't really like the alternate mixes from films for radio all that well.  While I enjoyed films for radio it was one of my least favorite albums by them.  I wish they would have included a live version of the world can wait though. I saw them do that in concert last week and it was amazing

How do you like the demo version of "It's Never Quite What it Seems"? I think I actually like it better than the final version. And that's one of my all-time favorite OtR songs.

i have a live version of 'the world can wait' on my computer, i'm pretty sure - must've been an mp3 offering on their site at some point.

i don't have the cutting room floor, as i've just never gotten around to ordering it. i finally bought ohio today and am currently enjoying its auditory goodness. mmm....otr.

Yes I like "Its Never Quite what it seems" both versions are about equal in my opinion (not one of my favorites though) and i might be in the minority but I like the first song "spinning" its also great live
