Thoughts?  Not only on just the music itself but also on the music videos she makes?

I'm only familiar with Vespertine, and I'm not crazy about it. Musically, it's an intoxicating and masterfully done record, and she's a fantastic vocalist, but the songwriting just never did much for me. Maybe I should revisit that album some time?

i haven't seen any of bjork's videos, nor do i actually own any of her albums (though i've held them in my hands pondering purchasing them many a time at best buy). i do however have about 19 songs of hers from various albums sent to me via msn messenger by my friend talitha.   yes, stealing music is bad...but anyway, those songs are all from a bunch of different albums, but i love them. i think my favorite is 'new world' from dancer in the dark (which is a good film, too)....that song gives me chills everytime. but yeah, i really like what i've heard of her.

I'm listening to Vespertine again for the first time in months, and man... as a vocal contortionist, she goes ALMOST unmatched.

I agree Josh about her being a great vocalist, there are some songs off of post that I like.  Vespertine sounds a lot like sigur ros's 2nd cd (I believe) and ok computer in my opinion. But my problem with her (besdes the fact shes a bit too eccentric for my tastes)is that as a songwriter she seems to be lacking.  I'm not sure what if anything she is trying to say in her songs.  Also I liked her performance in an otherwise lackluster film "Dancer In The Dark", maybe she should try pursue an acting career some more.

I think so too. But with a few poetry classes she could be a first-rate artist.

Nah, she's a good songwriter.  She's just off-the-wall a little too much for the phorum I guess.  Vespertine is a very good album.

I like some pretty off-the-wall stuff, man, but I wasn't impressed with her lyrics. Like I said, though, I need to spend a little more time with them...

I don't find her lyrics astounding, but she often falls into IDM and a J-pop kind of sound, where lyrics are really very low priority anyway.  The genre's really meant to be judged on the music itself.
