So, here is the plan that Dv and I came up with for the new SONG OF THE WEEK feature:
1. Every week, either Dv or myself would start a new thread with a Song of the Week. This thread would contain lyrics to the song, and anyone who wants to is welcome to participate in a discussion of the song, what it means, etc.
2. We would have a separate sticky thread for nominations for future songs. Dv and I would evaluate the nominations and select the Song of the Week based NOT on our personal preferences, but on which songs seem like they would generate good discussion.
3. All songs nominated must be by U2, REM, or Radiohead.
4. Haha! Just kidding about that last one.
So, does that sound fair? Any way we could improve upon it? Would you participate?

well like I said I like the idea of several people taking turns and one member picks per week plus how about we go outside of the zone and even pick songs that we may not necessarily like or be a favorite but could start a good discussion....there are a lot out there

Well, thats basically what we are doing with the nominations. Having Josh or I make the final choice will help filter out any goofball type requests(i.e., Oops I Did it Again) and make sure we are getting the most discussion out of the song that we can. Don't worry, it won't be all "the big three" bands. In fact, I will promise you that as far as I can control it, I will make sure we have a totally different song next time.

Looks like everyone is going for the plan. We will try to keep track of who got theirs picked, so everyone should get a chance, assuming they pick reasonable songs. I suppose we could do substandard songs to, and talk about we they are the way they are and just generally critique them. But please, any submission's from Hilary Duff's album will be ignored.  |
