That list of songs looks so horrid out of context.  Save for a couple of monumental tracks, it looks, dare I say, weak.

Radiohead is definitely an album band.

An early suggestion... I'll have to listen to this and see how it sounds, but try 'em in a playlist and see if the transitions and general ordering work for you at all...

I'm not absolutely opposed to that happening... I just think it's more interesting to pull off transitions between songs on different albums that actually work. I don't think I want to start with two songs from Kid A, though. I put "Idioteque" after "Pyramid Song" because the sudden ending of "Pyramid Song" really needs to cut into something that has an immediate beat driving it (like Pull/Pulk does). And "Airbag", being the opener on OK Computer, worked well near the beginning. My only real misgiving about this tracklisting is that "Pyramid Song" comes rather early (it's early on Amnesiac, but that doesn't work so well either), and that it's really hard to find something that transitions well into "Karma Police" (though the transition out of that into "Sit Down Stand Up" amused me greatly.)

You guys should know that I finally got around to purchasing OK Computer yesterday. Got it for $10. For such a classic album, I figure that's a pretty good price for getting it new.

I paid, like, $17 for OK Computer.  I made a disc of shns for the tracks and I'll play them through winamp to see how they sound in that order.  It looks promising, just listening to the songs in my head.

You're right about the ending of "Pyramid Song," David. I retract my earlier proposition about switching "Airbag" and "Idiotheque."

When I made my own Radiohead best-of collection in the weeks leading up to HTTT, I put "Idiotheque" as the first track.  =)

Oh, and I like having "Pyramid Song" early in the album.

bloop, you need to let me burn this one. Unless you're really uptight about audio quality (I'll see if I can copy WAV files to my computer and work directly with those instead of from mp3's, but I don't own Pablo Honey, The Bends or Kid A, so I just have downloaded mp3's of those songs), I think the mix would benefit from a tiny bit of editing on my part (nothing major - I don't believe in cutting songs, but I'd like to fade whatever bleeds into the next song on the album and so forth).

I'm pretty anal retentive in terms of audio quality on the main disc, but for a bonus disc, I would have mp3-sources anyway.

How about this.  I'll send you a CD-sourced copy with your track order and you can edit an re-burn however you want to.  Just make sure I get a copy of what you did back.  I have to add that I strongly recommend EAC for ripping CD audio.  What do you think?

For a second bonus disc, which I think is a good idea, how about I make a copy of my Radiohead video disc.  Another option is that I could burn a disc of many of their b-sides and the On A Friday demos in mp3 format (On A Friday is the name of the band before they changed their names, so they show a very early, rough Radiohead).  Tell me which option you like.  If you don't, I'll have to PM you.

What about the B-sides, and a few choice videos?  Maybe some live bootlegs in MP3? Make it a huge 650mb smorgasborg of Radiohead.  Mix it all up in there.

Yes, please.  Compilations made from MP3s are mad ghetto.

There's a couple of problems, though.  If we're planning to include artwork (that would be fun), a double CD wouldn't work as we would have to get 2-CD cases, which are almost impossible to find.

I'm all for Murlough's idea to edit tracks accordingly to make them transition well.

I say chores should be split:

-Somebody edits songs and works on their transitions.
-Somebody burns CDs
-Somebody buys cases
-Somebody buys CD labels (glossy)
-Somebody buys tray labels and sleeves (glossy)
-Somebody creates and prints artwork
-Somebody assembles and sends out CDs

Oh gee.  This is getting difficult.  If we're going to do that, I'll burn the CD.  I think murlough can work on the transitions if I just send him the disc, then he can send it back for distribution to a list of people.  

As for the rest, I don't know.  My printer isn't in color, so I'm not the artwork person most definitely (I'm also not a designer really).  I'm just not sure how exactly your distribution method would work.  

I think it might be ok to make a printable cover CD label, etc. and put it on the web so anyone can print it if they like.  They can buy their own cases and labels and then I'm just in charge of what I'm confident in doing - sending burned discs in murlough's track order, spacing, and fades in a simple sleeve.

One very important thing.  If you want a copy, I want to start compiling a list of addresses.  PM me or email to smjiswa344@msn.com with a name and address that I can send to when it comes time for that.  I assure you that I won't give away your mailing address to anyone else, but we'll obviously need that to mail any finished product out.

Finally, about the 2nd disc.  Don't think of that as a bonus disc.  It'll be more just a mish-mash of different neat little Radiohead computer multimedia files in mp3 and mpeg formats.  It'll just be a nice little extra for everyone.  Don't worry about sending me blank CDs or anything.  Just consider it my Christmas gift for the phorum.

This is not a problem.  I can just send them to you as a data CD of WAV files as that makes perfect sense.  I just have to decode from SHN (that's what I have them in right now to conserve hdd space as you don't lose anything encoding into that format...instead of bringing a 50 MB file down to 5, it might bring it down to 30).

I just need one thing:  an address to send them to.
