I listened to that.  My thoughts: "Hey Nick Jonas, nice try stealing my music.  Regards, John Mayer"

Which is funny, given Mayer's admission that he steals from Eric Clapton.

This was more the sappy pop song from Mayer rather than the guitar work from Mayer.  Either way - its unlistenable unless you're a teenage girl.

So is most of Mayer's stuff lately.

I didn't say none of it was sappy pop before. I like Your Body, but it's overrated.

It's certainly not my preferred style, but it has the potential to grow on me.

Iona - Woven Cord

That's a great disc; I haven't listened to it in a while, but it's the rare live album that actually improves on the album versions. See "Beyond These Shores". I thought it was so-so on the album, but add Frank's violin, suddenly it's gorgeous. "Dancing on the Wall" was also an awkward, out-of-place pop song on their first album; the acoustic version here is much classier.

I was surprised to find it because I figured it was somewhat rare. I'm excited to listen to "Woven Cord" with the Orchestra! I'm about to play some of the album now.

That was actually the debut of the song. Open Sky came out the following year. I might like the album version better on that one, just because they ratcheted up the drums so it has more "snap" to it.

Yeah, I just listened to it and I think I prefer the album version, too. It's still a great song either way. I haven't made it all the way through all of the Iona albums I picked up, but so far "Woven Cord" is definitely my favorite song of theirs.

I feel like I should buy another Muse album now, just to propagate the trend. (Already own the two mentioned above. Still warming up to Absolution. Origin of Symmetry could be a tough sell.)

yeah, i got all excited b/c i thought i had found a 'new' album for them, but it was a 2007 live recording from Cornerstone and the only way i figured that out was that i started recognizing song titles and then i pulled up my iTunes and realized i had almost all of the songs before, albeit NOT live versions, but i was still disappointed because it sounded as if it was really a new album

I have tried to listen to Chosen but have never been able to get through it.  there are comments about Drop-Dead being a return to the band's early sound, but I don't get it. I like Drop-Dead and don't think it is anything like Chosen. but I am not a very thorough Violet Burning fan; there is stuff that I like a lot and stuff (including different versions of songs I like) that I cannot stand.  =\

stuff I recently acquired from magnatune:
Vito Paternoster - Bach Cello Suites
Daniel Estrem - J.S. Bach on 8-string Guitar, vol. 1
Philharmonia Baroque - Beethoven - Opferlied and Symphony Number 9

All I know is Drop-Dead (which I like, but which doesn't amaze me outside of a few key tracks) and a brief couple of listens to Demonstrates Plastic and Elastic (which was strange, but I didn't hate it).

Dollar Bin day! I picked up these:

The Elms - Truth, Soul, Rock & Roll
Harvest - Transitions
Tantrum of The Muse - The Downtrodden and The Sidhe
The Juliana Theory - Understand This Is A Dream
Dead By Wednesday - Democracy Is Dead (I've never heard this band, but thought I'd give it a shot.)
Various Hardcore Bands - East Coast Assault III
Something Like Silas - Divine Invitation
Hangnail - Hangnail
Ace Troubleshooter - The Madness of The Crowds

I also re-bought copies of Hopesfall - A Types and Acceptance - Black Lines To Battlefields. Sometimes I buy duplicate albums by bands I like a lot in case I wear out the original over time. It's hard not to for a dollar!

The Elms - Truth, Soul, Rock & Roll

Inconsistent album with embarrassing lyrics in places, but "Speaking in Tongues" alone is worth more than your dollar.

The Juliana Theory - Understand This Is A Dream

I liked TJT, but could never get into this one outside of "Musicbox Superhero".

Something Like Silas - Divine Invitation

Awesome album, especially for the "modern worship" genre. Do you listen to Future of Forestry at all, or did you just stumble across this with no prior knowledge of the band?

I love "Speaking In Tongues". That's the only song I'm familiar with on the album. I had forgotten all about that song until it popped up on an episode of a TV show I was watching last week. I was stoked to see this album in the dollar bin today because of my renewed love of that song!

I liked TJT, but could never get into this one outside of "Musicbox Superhero".

I'm a fan of The Juliana Theory, but I still don't understand why they were more popular in the late 90's/early 00's emo scene than Sense Field and Further Seems Forever were. I think they're much more inconsistent than those two bands.

Yes, I'm a fan of Future of Forestry. I picked up Twilight a couple months ago and was very impressed. I wouldn't have been familiar with Something Like Silas if not for my recent discovery of Future of Forestry.
