Chatham ( my hometown) is bringing in a hypnotist for their Halloween Harvest Fest.
I'm really interested in watching him. I wouldn't want to get involved in any way, but I've always been curious about that stuff. It'd be neat to see.
so what do you think? Would it be kind of wrong to go?
... I haven't decided yet.

That's scary...I wouldn't want to be hypnotized. But I don't see anything wrong with watching.

I think that watching hypnotism (sp?) would be cool. I wouldn't want to be hypnotized, though. The thought of not being in control of myself gives me the creeps. As does Harenil's new avatar... :X

The one thing that seems kind of borderline is "past life regression" hypnosis, in which the subject is taken back into alleged past lifetimes. Some have claimed this as evidence for reincarnation. There's also age-regression hypnosis. We didn't do either one in my psychology class, but it would be interesting to see.

There's also age-regression hypnosis. We didn't do either one in my psychology class, but it would be interesting to see. I think most of these can be shown to result more from hypnotic suggestion than actual past-life experiences. An interesting article about that can be found here.

i think i'd rather have him be a comedian hypnotist, than some freaky "look deep into my eyes" kind of hypnotist. along the same lines, we had a dream interpreter come into our school a week ago. she talked some about hypnosis, but most of the time she explained symbolism in dreams, etc. not many people took her very seriously. she was very new-age-y.

Was she into Freudian analysis?
