So tonight I saw John Reuben and Paul Wright in concert, and it was incredible.  John Reuben is a master at working the crowd...Paul did excellent as well.

But...here's the "amazing" experience...before the show, I'm just kind of standing around, and Paul Wright comes up to me, and says, "Are you Paul from Nebraska?" (I did an interview with him over email, you can peep it at the TRu)...anyways, apparently, he also saw a pic of me online.  I was surprised he recognized me, and came up to me...We started chatting, and after I mentioned how much I liked LA Symphony, and asked him about the remix of their "Gonna Be Alright" song he did with LAS, he invited me to head out to his car and listen to it...So we head out there, and he plays it...the song was incredible, even better than the original.  However, it doesn't stop there...Next, he gives me a pre-release of the new LA Symphony CD, and his new CD!!!  I couldn't believe it...anyways, we talked for about 10 more minutes or so just about basketball and his music...It just seemed like I was talking to a friend...An awesome experience.  Then after the show, he said to keep in touch with him...All in all, everything that happened tonight was something I would never have imagined...

Does anyone have any similar stories to share?

No.  Not even close.  I've only been to one concert, but I did get a chance to talk very briefly with Derek Webb afterwords.  That was kind of cool.

you're from nebraska? me too. Smiley do you still live here? go to school?

hmm...best actual concerts i've been to were sigur ros and coldplay. jonatha brooke bringing up the rear. as far as hanging out with the band, nothing beats chatting with don and lori chaffer (of waterdeep) at denny's until 4 in the morning. good times.  =)

yup, I'm a Nebraksa native, a senior in high school.  I live in the southwest, in the town of McCook.

Sweet! That's awesome, Paul!

I heard John Reuben live but was only mildly impressed. My roommate rented bowling equipment to Matt Morginsky of the Supertones, though, and I held the door open for Steve Goodrum form Sanctus Real. But that certainly doesn't compare with your own experience Wink

Cool experience, Paul.

I went to a Switchfoot concert on Friday. They didn't even do autographs (and I had brought all their albums along with me). I don't blame them, it was an issue with the venue, but still..  Sad

Hey, man...

It's funny you mentioned that 'cause John Reuben did the exact same thing to me when I went to see him with MarsILL.  I was interviewing him for this feature I'm working on, and he found out I'm gonna be reviewing his upcoming album (which I received one day after our meeting), so he invited me to his van to get a "sneak" peak, so to speak.  I was "elated"... lol.

I was sort-of bobbin' my head and acting not too impressed (you guys know me), but it was funny seeing John doing his best to appease me.

But of course... you know Andree the merciless is not swayed by these kinds of things... so hold tight and you'll probably see my implacable review once this thing drops...

Peace out,
Andree

haha...that's sweet Andree.  I'll be waiting patiently for the John Reu review...

Also, are you gonna review LAS?  And what do you think of that one...

And, to wrap up this hip hop based post...you ever heard of the Procussions?  I just ordered their CD, I should be getting it next week...The LAS forum hyped them quite a bit...

I've heard it 1-1/2 times in full, and it's pretty sweet.  It's no Call It What You Want or Composition #1, but it's solid.  I like the fact that these guys have no problem doing party joints (with party lyrics, mind you), whereas most of CCM sees this as unChristian.

That day is gonna be crazy, 'cause I think I'm gonna be overtaking CT.com with reviews of LAS, Paul Wright, and John Reu, plus an interview with MarsILL and maybe a feature on spirituality in mainstream rap music.  Should be interesting.

Hmm... I've heard of them, but not their album.  Let me know how you like them.  Lately I've been intrigued by Listener, whom has received good reviews from several people, but I haven't heard myself.

Peace,
Andree

Dec. 1st at Christianitytoday.com is the official, "Day of Andree".  I'm looking forward to it  8-) .

BTW, the original topic still stands, if you have any special concert experiences to share.  Having said that, i will now begin to talk about the new LA Symphony CD...

So far, my favorite track is "Charlie Brown".  It's just so catchy...and it has a real lazy, almost plodding feel to it...

Does your copy have the Gonna Be Alright remix?  Mine doesn't, but if it did, that would be my favorite track...

I also plan on checking out Listener, after the TRu hyped him...But, I still need to get Mars Ill-Raw Materials, Blackalicious-Blazing Arrow (I have most of that downloaded, but I want the album), and A Tribe Called Quest-Low End Theory (I also have some of those tracks downloaded).

And I will tell you how the Procussions are...I really look forward to getting that disc next week.
