That's pretty cool, Harenil, even if I don't like Kevin J. Anderson. Sorry you didn't win.  =)

Hey, that's pretty cool. I'm not a huge Anderson fan either, but I wouldn't mind his autograph  wacko

I got his autograph, too! I'm not really even a fan, but I got a free poster and a free short story (both autographed) and a really big free cookie (not autographed =) ).

personally, I really enjoyed the Jedi Academy Trilogy and the Young Jedi Knights. Really good goods. The Jedi Search is actually one of, if not my favorite, Star Wars books.

Actually, the Jedi Academy Trilogy eventually turned into a series of like 20 books.

His "Empire of the Seven Suns" books are amazing, if a bit complicated.

Never heard of them... I'll have to try them out. I also want to try his continuing Dune books (the poster and short story were from them).

I've read them all, from Dune: House Attreides, all the way to Dune: The Machine Crusade. They're good fiction, but nowhere as near as good as the original Dune. Mostly because they're so much easier to understand, way more accessable, and totally commercial productions from top to bottom.

I heard a rumour that they're doing something to continue where Frank left off, where the atomics that the planet have been keeping are supposed to be used in case they ever meet another, alien species. But that might only be a rumour.

I never really got into the original Dune series...I read the first one, and didn't really enjoy it that much. My favorite character died early on, and though it was interesting at the beginning it just got pointless. So I lent my copy of the trilogy to Josh, and he's had it for about a year or two now. Maybe if he ever returns it I'll read the other two, but then again maybe not.

I refuse to read Anderson's new Dune books. But I enjoy the original quite a bit.

I'll return your books next time I see you, Vlad! And, to make up for keeping them so long, I'l llet you borrow my DVD set of the Dune miniseries, if you care to watch it.

Thanks, Josh, though I'm not really ticked that you've had them this long. They'd have just gathered dust on my bookcase anyway. But I might take you up on that DVD offer; maybe seeing some director's interpretation of it will inspire me to wade through the next two.

Why refuse to read the new Dune books, I wonder?

Oh by the way, that miniseries is stellar, apart from some obviously low-budget effects. It's what first got me into the Duniverse.

By the way, does anyone think that after the first three books, Frank lost his mind?

I am convinced that he lost his mind about 3/4 of the way through the first book.

I've heard too many negative things about the Dune books, and I simply don't want to spoil my appreciation for the originals.

And the mini-series is pretty good. Heck, even the feects were solid for a made-for-TV thing.

Josh,
the Jedi academy trilogy ended with CHampions of the Force. What you are probably getting confused with is the Young Jedi Knight series, which is a diferent series.
