Last friday night was one of those games in which I will say many times over: I was there.
With a 4th quarter drive and a touchdown and extra point with five seconds left, CAK beat Cloudland 31 to 30. Cloudland was ranked number one in the state and the local newspaper wrote a pre-game article annoucing that there was no way CAK could win. A three hour bus ride there and back, coming home at one in the morning, plus paying a 7 dollar ticket was definitely worth the time I had playing my trombone the entire game with just my best friend (where was the whole band, you might ask? ... I still am asking.) and rushing the field after our miracle win.

...and tonight we have Midway and... WE WON!!! Christian Academy of Knoxville was able to hold on to win 17 to 16. CAK kept Midway scoreless in the second half. CAK came back after being behind in the first half 3 to 16. CAK messed up oppurtunities to score again late in the fourth quarter, giving Midway two last chances. The last five minutes consisted of a total of 2 interceptions and 2 lost fumbles. CAK's defense was able to halt Midway's incredible running team just enough. I enjoyed CAK's new offense. The first half consisted of some solid runs and the second half had some dependable short passes. The offense was less "hail-Mary" like - more solid drives. And the Band was there!

I was sorry to hear that the CAK guys lost. It was a great season, and I don't think anyone, except maybe the team themselves, thought they would go this far. My question to everyone who is convinced that God had a hand in the previous victories (and I'm not saying He didn't, nor am I trying to prove a point; I'm just curious): did He also cause you to lose this last game? Could it have been, as in the Israelites' defeat by Ai, that some member of the team harbored a secret sin, or did He just abandon you, or was He not the reason you won in the first place?

i believe your looking into this too hard Vlad. Its just a football game. God gave the players from both teams the strength to play.

i believe your looking into this too hard Vlad. Its just a football game. God gave the players from both teams the strength to play. Actually, I agree with you. I don't feel that the winner was "supported" by God or that the loser was "neglected" by him. But several times, perhaps not in this thread but in previous threads regarding CAK football and in various conversations, I have heard it mentioned that CAK may have been assisted in some way through divine intervention. So I'm attempting to inject some reality into this speculation.

Well, Proverbs tells us that God cares about every lot that is cast, which would seem to imply that He also cares about the outcome of the game. But I'm not saying that He actively did something to MAKE a certain team win or lose; perhaps He merely allowed it to happen the way it is, choosing not to intervene.

For whatever reason, I guess God has a lot of love for my town's football team ...we've won back to back state titles, 26 straight games. And I don't think I could name a single Christian on the team.

Boyd beat DCA 26 to 3 to win state. This makes CAK look a little better (they lost to the winners instead of the losers). For the record Boyd and DCA are both private Christian schools also. Class 1a council is pondering splitting up private and public schools because private schools keep winning and they suspect that private schools have an advantage somehow.
