Why do you love it? Number 2 of all time? I thought it was a tad on the overly manipulative side - Fincher knows how to screw with the viewer's mind and pulls out all the stops on this one.

Spoken like a true member of the Promontory board, Nate. Overstreet and Chattaway would indeed be proud. =)

Well I actually find myself not agreeing with them on frequent occasion (I actually really liked Matrix Reloaded - and not just because of the action, but I thought it raised some good issues - I also like American Beauty, which seems to be one step above blasphemy at times on that board.)

I'm afraid I have to side with the Slightly Evil Geniuses on Reloaded, but I disagree with them on certain films, as well. Haven't seen American Beauty, but boy, they really do get pretty passionate when denouncing that film, don't they?

I haven't seen it, but it doesn't look particularly appealing...

If you don’t have freedom as a principle, you can never see a reason not to make an exception. There are constantly going to be times when for one reason or another there’s some practical convenience in making an exception. rms

I will say that as far as style goes, Fight Club is incredible. Fincher certainly pulls out all the stops. However you just get the feeling that he is messing with you - or at least that was my experience. I have met people that know a heck of a lot more about film than I do, and they just love it. I think it's worth watching just for the style (and for the fact that it's a formative film for a lot of people.)

yeah....well I'm a Fincher fan naturally, so that's one reason why I like this movie alot. I think he's a great visual artist who knows what he wants in directing. Anyway, I have yet to read the book by Chuck Palahnuik that the movie is based on....I hear some of his other books are quite an experience.
