I remember in first grade, a kid (who I also knew from church) said "I'm God".  I said "Do you want to go to hell?"  He just said "yuck.  Everything's hot down there."  But someone else who heard me said that she was going to tell on me for saying hell.  I didn't get in trouble (I'm not sure if she actually told or not.)  I think a suspension for this is definitely excessive, but of course I only know what I read in the article.

That's pretty extreme, as you say. I wholeheartedly approve of the 'no swearing' policy, but the way they enforce it just reinforces the already too-prevalent belief that certain words are just taboo, regardless of their usage and intent. Think, people!
