Have you guys listened to College Dropout yet? I just bought it today...I've only listened to 4 songs so far, so I'll need to listen more before I form an opinion. I could do without all those skits though  .

I do want to give it a listen. Do you know what is with rap and hip-hop artists and the skit/intermission thing? Why do so many in that genre find that so necessary?

I bought this when it came out, but I gotta go pick it up at Best Buy. I don't know why I chose the "pick up" option, when I could have had it delivered.
Can't wait to critique it.
They say it's the hotness, but usually I'm the authority on that.
We'll see!

Here are some random observations:
*Kanye definitely has a gospel influence in his music
*He's not a great rapper, but he's able to hold his own, largely because he is very personal and real with his lyrics...he doesn't hide behind that fake braggadocious attitude that many rappers use.
*The production is tight throughout the album
*I hate the skits with a passion...there is no need for them
*may favorite tracks are: Never Let Me Down (Jay-z is featured on it, but my favorite part is when J. Ivy comes on and does his spoken word thing...it's very passionate)...Through the Wire (Kanye gets personal on this one, an inspirational song)...Family Business (I like the piano arrangement on this one, and once again I love how personal Kanye gets)...All Fall Down (nice touch with the guitar sample he uses, also I like how he tackles the issue of materialism in his second verse)...
*the other songs in my "top tier": Jesus Walks, We Don't Care, Spaceship
